Role description
We are opening a part-time, project-based position for a data journalist. Based on the project’s success, there is potential for a full-time position.
The successful candidate will be directly involved in creating a data-driven publication focused on luxury real estate markets, utilizing both our proprietary and open-source data.
The project requires a strong ability to visualize data in a creative, inspiring, and engaging format, aligned with the latest data visualization trends (personally or by leading the process with design and development teams).
Project: Data-driven real estate market report. The goal is to develop comprehensive reports on the luxury real estate market in a selected location, leveraging our internal data and publicly available sources. The project is expected to last 6-7 months.
Skills & Requirements
What we would like to see from you:
1. Experience in Data Journalism
- Proven track record in data journalism with a portfolio showcasing data-driven stories.
- Ability to research, collect, and analyze large datasets to generate impactful stories.
2. Strong Data Visualization Skills
- Experience creating clear, compelling visualizations (charts, graphs, infographics) that communicate complex data in a user-friendly and engaging format.
- Expertise in data visualization tools as a plus (preferably, Tableau, MixPanel).
3. Storytelling & Editorial Skills
- Strong writing and communication skills to translate data insights into engaging stories.
- Knowledge of luxury markets or high-end assets is a plus.
4. Technical Proficiency
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python, or R) to handle and manipulate data.
- Experience working with databases, APIs, and open data sources.
5. Analytical Mindset
- Ability to identify trends, patterns, and insights from data.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data reporting.
- Ability to simplify complex data concepts for diverse audiences.
6. Project Management Skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a project-based environment.
- Willingness to work closely with cross-functional teams, including content, marketing, and design.

Responsibilities
1. Data Collection & Analysis
- Research and gather relevant datasets from internal and external sources.
- Clean, process, and analyze data to extract meaningful insights.
- Conduct trend analysis and identify key findings that can drive content.
- Align with stakeholders to adjust visualizations or analysis based on project requirements.
2. Report Creation & Content Development
- Develop data-driven reports, including written stories and visual elements such as charts, graphs, and infographics.
- Ensure reports align with company objectives and the interests of the luxury asset market.
- Collaborate on blog posts, articles, and case studies that incorporate data insights.
- Provide data-driven insights to support other ongoing projects or initiatives within the company.
3. Data Visualization
- Design clear, engaging data visualizations for external and internal use.
- Customize visualizations for various platforms (website, social media, email campaigns).
- Ensure all visual elements adhere to the company’s branding guidelines.
