The VP of Engineering is responsible for setting the right culture, growing and managing the engineering team, and ensuring the team delivers quality releases while also giving the rest of the organization transparency into the engineering process. The main objective of this role is to collaborate with the Chief Product & Technology Officer and other stakeholders to translate product strategy and requirements into actionable goals for the engineering organization.

  • Delivery: Ensure the organization executes on agreed-upon deliverables. deployment frequency, lead time for changes. Ensure the team has the necessary tools, resources, and skills to be successful. Collaborate closely with product management, design, operations, and other cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and successful delivery of projects. Oversee and improve the software development and delivery processes. Monitor the organization’s performance and quality of deliverables.
  • Architecture: Ensure teams build systems that scale and implement modular and decoupled architecture to enhance flexibility, maintainability, and upgrade ease. Enable teams to build resilient systems that can gracefully handle features and maintain service availability through redundancy and fault-tolerant design. Ensure teams actively address technical debt to maintain code quality, system performance, and developer productivity.
  • Culture: Motivate engineering leaders and their teams to live by the Kueski engineering principles. Drive a learning organization where experimentation is encouraged, learnings come from failures, and continuous improvement occurs through retrospectives. Ensure teams adopt data-driven decisions, implementing robust metrics and feedback loops to measure performance, identify bottlenecks, and make informed decisions. Focus on the investment of continuous skill development and training to keep pace with evolving technologies and industry best practices.
  • Strategy: Provide a clear vision and align engineering goals with business objectives, ensuring that technical efforts contribute to overall business success. Anticipate future challenges, opportunities, and technological advancements, ensuring long-term sustainability and growth. Effectively communicate engineering initiatives and progress to senior leadership and other stakeholders. Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to understand their needs and incorporate feedback into engineering plans and strategies.

  • Requirements (Experience & Competencies)
  • At least 10 years of experience building highly scalable, high performance software solutions with at least 5 years of experience managing product-centrice teams of 50+ engineers
  • 5+ years of in mobile, web, and cloud computing technologies
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • Well versed and experienced at applying Agile tools and methodologies to solve engineering problems
  • Experienced in and enthusiastic about identifying, developing, and motivating new engineering leaders
  • Highly collaborative leader with a demonstrated ability to motivate teams while partnering with a dynamic leadership team to ensure alignment and transparency
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment; flexible and able to multitask while also driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems
  • Fluency in English
