Job description

As a Security Engineer at FAIRTIQ, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing and evolving our cybersecurity program, with a particular emphasis on application security. Working as part of a small, dynamic team, you will design, implement, and manage key security activities such as vulnerability assessments, incident response, and technical security documentation. You’ll also act as a trusted advisor, guiding and educating teams on security best practices.

You’ll be instrumental in securing our FAIRTIQ platform and fostering a company-wide security culture built on principles of fun, curiosity, pragmatism, simplicity, and collaboration.

A typical day starts with a security team stand-up to discuss plans and address challenges. You will collaborate with your squad or work independently on security solutions that empower colleagues across the organisation. You’ll also apply your technical expertise by advising peers on security-related questions or reviewing designs to ensure security is embedded from the start.

Role responsibilities:

  • Lead and optimise operational security activities, emphasising automation and continuous improvement.
  • Enhance and maintain FAIRTIQ’s comprehensive security documentation framework.
  • Actively engage in and elevate our incident response processes.
  • Advocate for technical security awareness across the organisation, setting the standard through your work and example.
  • Provide support and security guidance primarily to the Tech team, contributing to secure software development.
  • Conduct technical design reviews and perform threat modelling to identify and mitigate potential risks.

Who we are looking for:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience: 2-3 years in a security-focused role.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong grasp of web, mobile, and cloud security concepts, including security protocols, cryptography, and network security.
  • Secure Development Skills: Familiarity with secure software development practices.
  • Coding & Scripting: Proficient in Java, Python, or shell scripting.
  • Security Operations: Understanding of disciplines like vulnerability management.
  • Incident Response: Experience in incident response management or a desire to develop in this area.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Adaptability & Curiosity: Eagerness to learn and stay updated with emerging technologies.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, humility, and a collaborative spirit, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Language: Excellent proficiency in English (written and spoken).
  • Bonus Points: Engagement in extracurricular activities like Capture The Flag (CTF) competitions, bug bounty programs, or other security challenges.
  • Europe based candidates
