Job description

Job Overview 

Davies US is looking for a knowledgeable Payroll Specialist to process the company’s bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls in a timely and accurate manner. In this role, you will follow policies and processes that ensure accurate calculation of wages, tax withholdings, and company deductions. 

 To be successful in this role, you need to be able to use payroll software with accuracy and efficiency, identify any discrepancies not in line with the current wage laws of each state and are trustworthy with sensitive and confidential information. You must have 3+ years of payroll experience processing payroll with performing hands-on daily tasks and ADP Workforce Now experience with multiple payroll processing schedules. Additionally, you will need to demonstrate self-motivation and ability to succeed within a home-based team structure and be able to work independently with minimal supervision in a time-sensitive environment.  This is a full-time, home-based position.

 

Responsibilities and Duties 

Payroll Processing 

  • Maintain payroll information by collating, calculating, and entering payroll data 
  • Work with HR teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
  • Ensure proper processing of payroll earnings, deductions, taxes, benefits, 401k contributions, garnishments, and other pay policies 
  • Verifies timecard data and ensures management approvals and corrections are timely 
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions including quarterly and year end reporting 
  • Monitor changes and remain current on legal, regulatory, or governmental requirements (e.g., wage and hour, garnishments, tax matters, 401k(k) and other compliance areas) 
  • Assists finance in related reporting and reconciling payroll to the general ledger 
  • Preparation, data entry and maintenance of related payroll spreadsheets 
  • Issues or reissues physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge 
  • Responds to payroll inquiries from HRBPs and HR teams, including resolving employee pay issues 
  • Maintains all payroll operations according to company policies and procedure

Special Projects 

  • Participate in the integration new acquisitions into Davies standard payroll practices 
  • Identify, track, and relay project risks; provide updates to appropriate parties 
  • Other duties or projects as assigned

 Essential Requirements 

  • Must have US work rights 
  • 5+ years of payroll experience processing payroll and performing hands-on daily tasks 
  • ADP Workforce Now experience with multiple payroll processing schedules 
  • Experience with Garnishment processing, tax filing and reporting 
  • Experience with multi - State, Local, county and city taxation 
  • Knowledge of payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal controls, and payroll processes 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software with high proficiency in Excel

Position Type, Work Environment, and Physical Demands 

This is a home-based, full-time, hourly, exempt role that operates from a professional home-based office environment routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, photocopiers, and scanners and requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk while working on a computer.  While performing the duties of this job, the individual will be required to regularly hear and talk.  This is a sedentary role requiring the ability to sit at a desk, reach outward, use a phone, have use of fingers to operate office equipment such as a keyboard, mouse, phone, printer, copier, and to reach above the head, bend, or stand as necessary.
