Job description

The Tax Associate position is an exciting opportunity to help drive and shape the tax preparation and filing service offering at Buckingham. This team member will work with Buckingham Integrated Tax Solutions team to assist in the implementation and growth of the tax preparation service for clients that is integrated with the firm’s wealth management client experience. The tax associate will help with filing tax returns in a timely, accurately and secure manner for a wide variety of clients and collaborate closely with Buckingham’s advisory teams to assist in forward-looking planning opportunities.

This is a hybrid role. The Tax Associate is expected to be in the office 2 days per week and can work from home 3 days per week. 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze, review and compile tax return data 
  • Prepare federal, state and local income tax returns for individuals and businesses
  • Prepare extensions and assist with tax notices as needed
  • Prepare quarterly tax estimates and assist with tax projections
  • Perform work accurately and in a time efficient manner, with strong attention to detail, organization, and follow through
  • Gain technical knowledge by researching and learning tax laws as required
  • Analyze client information and offer recommendations for reducing client tax liabilities
  • Communicate effectively with tax managers, advisors, and their clients in a timely and professional manner
  • Operate in a fully compliant manner to protect clients’ and the firm’s information

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting 
  • EA, CPA or CPA candidate, preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong problem solving, technology, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Excellent analytical, attention to detail and time management skills
  • Ability to work individually and in a team atmosphere
  • The willingness and ability to work additional hours, as needed, during busy season
