Business Development Representative
Remote (based in UK)
Job Summary:
The Business Development Representative (BDR) at Velsera will play a crucial role in driving the growth and success of our company. This position requires a blend of prospecting and marketing skills to identify new business opportunities, build relationships with future clients, and deliver value from marketing programs. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in business development, an unwavering determination for breaking into new accounts, and the ability to forge a path for future BDRs.
Reporting to the General Manager EU, this position is a new one for us. Your job is threefold: 1 – prospect into new and existing accounts, teeing up calls for the sales team; 2 – respond swiftly to inbound MQLs and inquiries; 3 – prove out the BDR model at Velsera, implementing best practices, with an eye to scaling the team based on performance. This position will serve across geographies, with a focus on the EMEA, and across Life Sciences R&D space particularly in large Pharma and Biotech. Are you up for the challenge? Role Highlights:
• Follow up on all inbound leads across EMEA regions
• Proactively prospect for outbound opportunities in enterprise life sciences and clinical diagnostics new logos and existing customers
• Qualify opportunities and schedule appointments for the Territory Director to drive deeper engagement

• Proven experience in a BDR or similar role, in life sciences, large pharma or a related field
• Strong skills in lead qualification and appointment setting
• Highly motivated, proactive, and ready to make an impact in a high-growth market

What Will You Be Doing?
1. Business Development:
o Identify and research potential clients and new business opportunities
o Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of leads through various channels (e.g., cold calling, email campaigns, social media)
o Conduct outreach to prospective clients, presenting our products/services and value proposition, with a goal to pre-qualify and set meetings for the sales team
o Collaborate with the sales team to hand off deals and act as a bridge for the prospect
o Engage within our industry segments, attending conferences as required, following influencers on social etc., staying on top of industry trends
2. Inbound Lead Management:
o Respond to inbound inquiries within a swift SLA
o Field all inquiries and route to the appropriate teams
o Maximize marketing investments utilizing your prospecting skills to convert inquiries into meetings for sales
o Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, adjusting strategies as needed.
3. Operational Effectiveness:
o Achieve monthly and quarterly quota targets, tracking progress daily and weekly on activities and results
o Act as the exemplar process-follower, capturing notes and details within the CRM (we use Salesforce and Hubspot), ensuring the smoothest handoffs
o Implement best practice outreach programs, modify prospecting content, and centralize the best performing plays to share with the broader team
What Do You Bring to the Table?
• Experience in business development, as an individual contributor and/or team leader
• Must have experience within the healthcare segment, preference given to those with specific precision medicine experiences
• Proven track record of achieving prospecting targets that connect to topline revenue growth
• Familiarity with CRM and marketing automation platforms, preference for Salesforce.com and Hubspot knowledge
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
• Independently motivated and driven to win, and have fun while doing it
