Job description

Job Title: Staff Attorney

Location: Remote - USA

Reports to: Senior Manager of Commercial Excellence

Position Type: Full Time, Exempt

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated attorney to manage a diverse range of legal matters within our company. The ideal candidate will assist in contracts, business licenses, compliance, and other legal functions.

This position will report directly to the Senior Manager of Commercial Excellence, and other executives of the company. The position is remote, and periodic travel may be required (less than 5% of the time).

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and identify risks and issues.
  • Maintain and organize legal files, including compliance documentation, regulatory filings, and corporate records.
  • Support by managing external legal counsel and coordinating their efforts on various projects.
  • Monitor compliance with corporate policies, securities regulations, and other legal requirements pertinent to public companies.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including management and various departments, regarding legal matters and compliance issues.
  • Serve as legal representative and point of contact for various issues.
  • Stay informed of changes in relevant laws and regulations affecting the company.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from accredited institution, licensing in state of residence.
  • 2+ years of experience practicing law in a professional setting such as a law firm or corporate in-house setting.
  • Strong knowledge of contract law.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a remote environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in waste and recycling field, contracted and subcontracted services, or logistics is a plus.
