ModMed is hiring a driven Sales and Use Tax Accountant to join our positive, passionate, and high-performing Accounting team focused on providing comprehensive support to ModMed and its affiliates with all tax matters related to Sales and Use Tax, Property Tax, Business Licenses and Annual Reports. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast-paced Healthcare IT company that is truly Modernizing Medicine!

Your Role:

  • Preparation of the U.S. state’s sales and use tax returns utilizing Avalara software.
  • Preparation of the monthly sales tax reconciliations and annual property tax reconciliations.
  • Researching customer inquiries regarding the appropriate sales and use tax treatment of products and services purchased and responding accordingly.
  • Analyze transactions and provide sales tax guidance to Mod Med business associates for proper tax classification.
  • Resolve and respond to notices from local jurisdictions regarding sales tax and property tax matters.
  • Assist with sales and use tax voluntary disclosure projects with various jurisdictions.
  • Assist with sales and use tax audits as necessary.
  • Assist Vice President of Tax, Tax Manager, and tax accountant with income tax compliance and tax provision preparation when necessary.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting preferred
  • 4+ years of tax experience required.
  • Preferred public company experience in Software / Technology, or related industry.
  • Familiarity with accounting software programs preferably NetSuite and Avalara or similar accounting software to analyze information.
  • Understanding of US laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process.
  • Knowledge of current US tax trends, regulations and policies.
