Position: Associate Attorney - Civil litigation

Location: Pasadena, CA

Duration: Full-time

Description

Well established boutique law firm specializing in defense of Medical Malpractice, General Liability, and Employment is seeking to add a full-time Associate Attorney (3+ Years Experience) to its growing practice. This is an outstanding opportunity to join one of Pasadena's leading litigation defense firms. Working closely with partners and other attorneys and staff members, the Associate Attorney will be expected to:

  • Draft/review/respond to discovery documents and motions
  • Attend, take and defend depositions (both fact and expert witnesses)
  • Attend conferences with expert witnesses and summarize those meetings
  • Review and summarize various records, including medical records, HR records, and documents produced in discovery
  • Perform legal/medical research
  • Attend court hearings and argue motions as necessary
  • Assist in trial preparation including the drafting of trial documents, motions in limine, and other required tasks
  • Perform all tasks involved in a civil litigation case from inception to trial including discovery, law & motion, expert discovery, and trial preparation
  • Perform other tasks as assigned
  • Our firm has adopted a hybrid working model for attorneys, allowing attorneys to work as many days as they choose in the office up to and including 100% remote work if desired.
Requirements:
  • Graduate from ABA accredited law school
  • Member of California Bar in good standing
  • 3 or more years experience as an attorney
  • Have excellent writing and communication skills
  • Be a self-starter who takes ownership of executing tasks including the ability to operate independently with minimal oversight but with the resources of a team environment available
  • Have the ability to manage and prioritize large and complex caseload
  • Be an effective team player
  • Experience in civil litigation (plaintiff or defense) required.
  • Interest in medical malpractice litigation preferred and interest in civil litigation (defense) required. Prior experience in these fields is preferred but not required.
