About You

You are a strategic business developer and revenue-oriented leader with a proven track record in monetizing online media platforms. You have a deep understanding of various monetization models, including advertising, subscriptions, and partnerships. You are creative, and analytical, and possess a strong understanding of user experience and how to integrate monetization strategies seamlessly for media outlets. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing, and dynamic environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

You are based anywhere in Europe and can work autonomously and asynchronously in this time zone.

Frequent traveling to various countries throughout Europe, Asia, and Africa will be required.

Top 5 Objectives

  1. Develop and Implement Monetization Strategies: Design and execute monetization strategies across our growing media platforms, and data visualization projects.

  2. Drive Revenue Growth: Identify and implement revenue-generating opportunities, focusing on achieving break-even and profitability within 2-3 years.

  3. Optimize Advertising Revenue: Develop and manage advertising partnerships, optimize ad placements and formats, and maximize advertising revenue.

  4. Build Subscription Models: To generate recurring revenue, explore and implement various subscription models, including tiered subscriptions, premium content offerings, and many more.

  5. Collaborate with Internal and External Teams: Work closely with editorial teams, product management, the development team, and Giraffa (our programmatic advertising arm) to ensure seamless integration of monetization initiatives.

Other Responsibilities

  • Conduct market research and analyze industry trends to identify monetization best practices.

  • Lead, motivate and provide strategic direction to multifaceted teams overseeing revenue operations while maximizing revenue performance and alignment with group-wide strategic objectives.

  • Develop and manage budgets, track revenue performance (CAC, CLV, etc), and provide regular reports to management.

  • Lead global and complex contract negotiations.

  • Negotiate partnerships and collaborations with external corporate and institutional organizations.

Requirements

  • 8 - 10 years of experience in media monetization, preferably with a focus on online media advertising.

  • Strong understanding of advertising, subscriptions, and other revenue models.

  • Experience working with programmatic and native advertising platforms and technologies.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.

  • A good command of English is mandatory while French is a big plus.
