Job description

Summary:

The Project Manager Non-IT (Investment Accounting System Business Project Manager) is responsible for planning and managing all aspects related of the investment accounting system, that’s focus on the design and development of business requirements through user acceptance, go-live and hyper-care.  This project spans multiple departments and team (corporate finance and accounting, actuarial, bond and derivative traders) as well as vendor business relationships (SS&C).  To be successful in this role, candidates must have demonstrated ability to drive projects, be resourceful and creative in resourcing and exemplary critical thinking and collaboration. Key player in stakeholder management and partnering/collaborating with the IT PM. May also need to wear multiple hats to ensure project deadlines are being achieved.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Scope Definition: The business project manager is responsible for defining the project scope, setting clear objectives, and creating detailed project plans in partnership with the IT project manager. This includes outlining tasks, timelines, resources, and potential risks to ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Team Coordination and Leadership: The business project manager leads and coordinates cross-functional teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among team members. This involves assigning tasks, providing guidance, and fostering a productive team environment.
  • Business Requirement Documentation: Gathering, documenting, and validating business requirements is crucial. The business project manager drives the documentation sessions and works closely with the business analysts and stakeholders to ensure that all business needs are accurately captured and translated into actionable project plans.
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Overseeing the UAT process to ensure that the final deliverables meet the business requirements and are ready for deployment. This involves coordinating testing activities, managing feedback, and ensuring any issues are resolved before go-live.
  • Stakeholder Communication and Reporting: Maintaining transparent and regular communication with stakeholders is essential. Project managers provide updates, prepare reports, and ensure stakeholders are informed about project progress, challenges, and successes.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Communication Skills: Effective communication is crucial for this role to convey project goals, updates, and issues to team members and stakeholders. This includes both verbal and written communication.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Strong leadership skills are essential for guiding and motivating teams, resolving conflicts, and ensuring that everyone is aligned with the project objectives.
  • Organizational Skills: The business project manager must be highly organized to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and resources efficiently. This includes prioritizing tasks and maintaining detailed project documentation.
  • Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: The ability to quickly identify issues, analyze potential solutions, and implement effective strategies is vital for keeping projects on track.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with project management software and tools (such as MS Project, Visio, and other relevant applications) is important for planning, tracking, and reporting on project progress.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field.
  • PMI or PMP certification preferred.
  • 8-10 Years' Experience
