Job Description:

Senior Software Tester

Location: Aberdeen (Hybrid) / UK (Remote)

Full Time: 5 days/week

Pay: £40,000 - £55,000 per annum depending on skills and experience

Who are we?

At DRAMS Software, we’re revolutionising the way maturing spirit producers manage their bulk inventory and distillery warehouses. Our solutions are trusted by a number of high-profile UK and international companies including Beam Suntory, Bacardi, Campari, William Grant & Sons, Whyte & Mackay, and Glenmorangie. With a strong commitment to customer satisfaction, quality and collaboration, we’re proud to be growing our company globally, whilst staying true to our Scottish roots and values.

What is unique about us?

You’ll join a collaborative, close-knit team where your growth and success are prioritised. As part of a highly experienced group, you’ll benefit from a strong support network that empowers you to make a meaningful contribution to the way we run our business locally, while also being part of the wider, globally recognised Volaris Group.  This dual advantage means you’ll be able to navigate your career across the wider group too – the best of both worlds we think!

You’ll enjoy excellent benefits including:

  • Competitive base salary + a market-leading discretionary bonus

  • Remote-first working

  • 23 days holiday (increasing to 24 after 1 year + flexible bank holidays)

  • Progressive parental leave policies

  • Private healthcare insurance + virtual GP, wellbeing support (incl. discounted gym memberships), life assurance, & income protection

  • 5% employer pension contribution

  • Regular in-person team events

  • Fully funded training and development programs

  • Work from home office equipment allowance

We believe in fostering each other’s strengths and trusting each other to deliver great results, no matter where you’re based. With 30 colleagues working remotely and in hybrid roles across the UK and Ireland, we’ve built a comprehensive on-boarding process to set you up for success. You’ll have access to experienced mentors and peers both locally and globally – all with a view to helping you grow your career and perform at your best.

What will I be doing day-to-day?

At the very core, you will be focused on ensuring that our products meet customer expectations and are consistent with product design. You’ll work closely with our Product Manager and Development Team to ensure product quality and reliability as we deliver the next iteration of the DRAMS solution, a web-based product currently being developed using Angular. This will involve maintaining and executing primarily automated tests on new and existing software.

How you do this has the ability to be shaped by your strengths; we’re excited to see what someone could bring to the role to make it their own!

Main Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Maintain and execute automated (currently Cypress, but transitioning to Playwright) test plans and their assets, including test data, and other necessary components.

  • Contribute to innovative test solutions and help drive key projects.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with our Development and Customer Care teams to help deliver projects within mapped timeframes.

  • Take ownership in creating, executing and reviewing manual and automation test scripts.

  • Define and document acceptance criteria and test plans for new development tasks based on analysis of functional requirements and user stories.

  • Record and report on test results, including failure modes, untestable designs, and other flaws and work with developers to address and resolve failures.

  • Execute all levels of testing (System, Integration, and Regression)

  • Keep user experience front of mind during testing and suggest usability improvements where necessary.

  • Continually look for opportunities to maximise testability and automatic testing coverage, suggesting and implementing improvements to working methods

  • Detect and track software defects and inconsistencies, maintaining Priority 1 defect release record to ensure high availability of software.

Who will I report to?

You will report to our Product Manager. However, you will also work closely with other functional teams such as our Research & Development and Customer Care teams

We’d love to chat if you have:

  • 5+ years in a testing role with similar responsibilities.

  • 3+ years automation testing experience.

  • Prior experience of any scripting language (e.g., Playwright, Cypress, JavaScript, Python, etc.) for the purpose of creating and maintaining automated tests.

  • Knowledge and experience of agile/waterfall methodologies.

  • Working knowledge of modern quality assurance and test management practices.

  • Working knowledge of tools used to execute and report on automated tests.

  • Proven ability to diagnose and solve problems.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • An organised, disciplined approach to work with excellent time management skills.

  • Ability to deal with multiple activities in parallel and work under pressure.

  • Confident manner and a determination and ability to learn new skills.

  • Currently holds independent right to work in the UK.

We value people with a growth mindset who listen, learn, and seek to improve.  Successful people in our team listen, support, and value their colleagues, communicating openly and honestly, taking pride in their work, and focussing on meeting the needs of our customers and our business.
