About the role

We’re looking for a Claims Representative II to join our growing team!

What you'll do here:                                                   

  • Responsible for representing the company in the negotiation and settlement of claims.
  • Direct handle and/or examine small to medium complex claims
  • Working within the guidelines of the Best Practices you will investigate, negotiate and settle losses for small to mid-complex claims up to $150,000 for personal line losses and to $100,000 on commercial losses.
  • Conduct analysis and assessment processes including analysis of coverage, quantum and liability assessments.
  • Follow reserving practices, you will manage indemnity and expenses to ensure accurate and timely financials of exposures are maintained and adhered on each claim file.
  • Check details of the Insured's policy to determine coverage.
  • Gather versions of events from the insured and any and all other persons who were involved, witnessed or observed.
  • Provide quality service to external or internal customers.
  • Answer queries relating to investigations and the claims process.
  • Ensure timely follow up with customers on the status of their claim.
  • Determine if the claim is covered or not by analyzing the coverage required to cover the claim.
  • Assign and direct the activities of independent adjusters where required.
  • Identify, assign and manage the necessity of expert involvement on claims; being mindful of claim cost control.
  • Settle claims in a fair and reasonable manner, validate damages and complete payments.
  • Assist with unit priorities including training and development of staff and other duties as assignment by the Unit Manager.


What you bring to the table:     

  • University degree/college diploma preferred, or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of property claims handling experience with personal, condominium and commercial claims.
  • Ongoing commitment to self-development.
