We are seeking an Operational Controller to join our dedicated team responsible for overseeing and managing on-road operational events across the TGE network. This role is essential for ensuring smooth operations, minimizing disruptions, and enhancing customer satisfaction. Operating 24/7, the Operational Controller will monitor vehicle movements, safety systems, and temperature-sensitive freight, while maintaining open lines of communication with internal stakeholders.
Working Schedule:
- Off-Peak: 3 days on, 4 days off
- Peak Period: 4 days on, 3 days off
- Roster: Rotating
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Operational Response: Respond to on-road operational events and facilitate resolutions in line with business KPIs.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed logs of all on-road events.
- Breakdown Management: Triage equipment breakdowns and coordinate with technical experts to mitigate business impacts.
- Incident Coordination: Manage responses to incidents and accidents, ensuring the safety of people, property, and equipment.
- Network Monitoring: Monitor the TGE road-network and ensure alignment with operational plans.
- Weather and Traffic Alerts: Issue timely communications regarding potential network impacts due to weather and traffic conditions.
- Driver Fatigue Management: Address instances of driver fatigue in accordance with company protocols.
- Telematics Oversight: Review in-vehicle telematics footage to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Freight Monitoring: Ensure temperature-sensitive freight maintains compliance with quality standards.
- Site Access Facilitation: Coordinate after-hours site access at designated locations.
- Driver Welfare Checks: Conduct welfare checks and engage in regular safety conversations with drivers.
- Operational Disruption Management: Develop and implement strategies to address and remediate operational disruptions.
- Reporting: Process and prepare routine reports for stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain clear communication with relevant stakeholders throughout operational events.
- Data Quality Maintenance: Uphold data quality standards in accordance with business requirements.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
- Secondary School Certificate.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience in transport and logistics operations or customer service.
- Familiarity with road transport regulations, including dangerous goods.
- Proficient in tracking systems and reporting.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong numerical and literacy skills with proven administrative abilities.
