The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a dedicated Executive Operational Planning Director to participate in Hiring Our Heroes (HOH) Fellowship Cohort 25-1 with USAA. The HOH Fellowship Program builds an extraordinary experience for transitioning service members, veterans, and military spouses that increase competitiveness and improve opportunities to find meaningful employment by providing development, skills, and exposure to corporate working environment and private sector business operations. HOH Fellowship Programs are best-in-class workforce development programs that are cohort based and twelve weeks in duration.
As a participant in the Military Fellowship Program, we understand that in most cases Fellows are ending their active service commitments and actively relocating. Therefore, while participating in the Fellowship program. If selected for full time employment, we offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in the following location: San Antonio, TX. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
Provides support to the senior-most leaders through the prioritization and coordination of key deliverables and activities, interpretation of business operations and/or Centers of Excellence (CoE) analyses and initiatives, and the development of appropriate action plans and responses to address business issues and/or compliance and regulatory issues. Assists in the development and implementation of strategic and operational plans that drive success within key results areas. Acts as liaison between business operations, both within and across CoSAs, Enterprise CoEs, Executive Management and/ or the EC member. Provides innovative communications support to senior leadership for Board/Council/Committees, strategic or operational planning events, monthly business meetings, and/or compliance and regulatory requirements.
What you'll do:
- Facilitates strategic and operational planning and implementation processes to assure that management is knowledgeable of process, goals, objectives and strategies.
- Leads the coordination and documentation of progress toward achievement of business goals, objectives, strategies and action plan results.
- In partnership with Corporate Communications and the Chief of Staff team, defines and sets objectives and content of messages to be communicated in concert with EMG and/ or the Executive Council member's guidance, corporate mission and objectives, as well as the objectives of employee, member, and public communications.
- Evaluates and influences relevance of messages for intended audience and ensures consistency and accuracy for communication efforts across the team; identifies and implements innovative communication tactics.
- Provides advice and guidance and negotiates approval of deliverable materials with executive management and subjectmatter experts prior to securing final approval from senior executive or Executive Council member.
- Supports and advises management through research and analysis of internal/external business data including industry standard methodologies and competitive information.
- Responsible for the development, coordination and timely submission of relevant EC and Board/Council/Committee driven requirements.
- Provides oversight and support to project teams in development and implementation of employee CoSA events and business conferences.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
- Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- 8 years of project/program management experience supporting senior level executives, corporate event planning and/or managing executive level communications.
- Ability to build strong relationships and to work with all levels within the organization.
- Experience developing executive level briefings in support of EC, CEO and BoD deliverables.
- Experience in Committee / Executive meeting preparation and facilitation. Demonstrated capability to navigate in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks with competing deadlines, and demonstrate forward-thinking and planning.
- Demonstrated ability to interact and collaborate positively with executive leadership (C-Suite) and communicate complex concepts clearly.
- Demonstrated capability to navigate in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks with competing deadlines. Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to include: Word, Excel and PowerPoint to create executive level presentations and develop process documentation.

What we offer:
Hiring Our Heroes Fellows are paid by the HOH program.
If selected for a full-time role, USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The hiring range for this position is: $109,130 - $208,580.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
