Are you a PostgreSQL DBA ready to make a major impact in a fast-growing company with vast data volumes and exciting technical challenges? EdgeTier is seeking a PostgreSQL Database Administrator who will take ownership of scaling our databases, optimising performance, and supporting our team in delivering top-quality products and services to our clients.
About the Role
As our first dedicated PostgreSQL DBA, you’ll be the expert at EdgeTier, responsible for maintaining, optimising, and expanding our databases. You’ll work closely with our CTO, Head of Engineering, and Product Managers to overcome complex data challenges and elevate our product capabilities. You’ll ensure our databases operate at peak efficiency, increase our application performance, and play a key role in architecture discussions. What You'll Do
Drive the optimisation and efficiency of our database systems.
Engage in forward-thinking solutions to scale our data infrastructure.
Support reporting improvements that deliver real insights for clients.
Ensure the stability and reliability of database operations.
How Your Time Will Be Spent:
Query/performance optimisation: 30%
Support developers in writing complex and/or performance critical queries: 15%
Help with CI/CD improvements (e.g. improve our testing environments): 10%
Meetings about architectural decisions requiring database schema changes: 10%
Planning and changes for future scaling: 10%
Set up and support external access for clients: 5%
System monitoring: 5%
Data migrations: 5%
Cost analysis reduction: 5%
Database upgrades/maintenance: 5%
Who You Are
You’re an experienced PostgreSQL DBA with a strong track record in managing and optimising databases in a production environment. You take ownership of your work, thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment, and enjoy solving complex data challenges.
You'll Need:
5+ years of DBA experience, with 3+ years in PostgreSQL specifically.
Experience in managing partitioned PostgreSQL databases.
