The Role
We're currently looking a Lead Embedded Systems Engineer to join our growing hardware team in line with our increasingly popular proprietary OS device. You’ll be leading the team to build our custom Linux based operating system, ScreenCloud OS, and related products which represent the best hardware experience for our customers.
As an Lead Embedded Engineer on the ScreenCloud OS team, you will lead the team to create and implement OS and embedded level features, as well as working on improvements that can help us reach the vision of what ScreenCloud OS can be; a completely custom and integrated enterprise software and hardware experience for our customers.
ResponsibilitiesLead the cross functional team of embedded software engineer, senior software engineers and QA to overcome the requirements and delivery with world class quality product.Design, create and implement new OS and embedded level features and systems for our custom Linux based operating system and related productsHardware enablement by helping to add support for new hardware devices, including specific components such as SOCs and other hardware componentsImplement new versions of software at the OS level such as Chromium, the Linux Kernel, bootloaders and other systems level software and librariesImplement security patches and other patches for existing software and librariesInvestigate alternative software, libraries and systems that could be used an the OS level to improve the OS experienceWrite in C and C++ with a fluency in POSIX shell script and Python as well, and able to implement libraries and tools as neededImplement solutions as needed to ensure that the OS supports modern web technologiesInvestigate issues reported by customers or internal teams and implement solutionsCreate new automated / unit tests, ensuring old tests are refactored when neededParticipating in code reviews and provide guidance on how to solve issues/concerns, debug, recognise all technical debts when applicableImprove system quality by identifying issues and common patterns, and helping improve operating proceduresRequirements
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and self-manage, consistently delivering outstanding results by aligning the team’s output goals with the ultimate objective.Foster teamwork and build a unified, engaging team culture that thrives on challengesProficiency with SDLC-experience for embedded software systemsThe ability to deep dive into the OS, including device’s drivers and hardware interfacesThe ability to plan, build and deliver software for embedded systems and debug remotelyProficiency with C, C++ and BashProficiency with (Embedded) LinuxExperience with Buildroot / YoctoExperience with boot loaders like U-BootProficiency with source/version control software such as GitHub and agile workflowsStrong care about sound engineering practices like continuous delivery and automated testingStrong ability to write well-documented, well-tested codeStrong interpersonal and communication skillsStrong written & verbal command of EnglishBonus SkillsExperience with hardware related projectsExperience with task specific Chromium (Embedded Chromium) and/or internal ChromiumExperience with SecureBoot, Disk Encryption or other modern securtity at hardware levelExperience with V4L2 for video CODECExperience with DRM subsystem for modern display technologyExperience with IoT software development and debuggingExperience with backend integration via GraphQL and RESTful APIsExposure to CI/CD tools, preferably Jenkins and Github ActionsExposure to mobile device developmentInterview Process and Experience
