What you’ll be doing...

Responsibilities will include:

  • Representing and advocating for Verizon’s interests before state regulatory commissions and relevant state legislative policy committees in California and other states. 

  • Developing and executing strategies to impact California and other state public utilities commissions, commission staff and other external policy makers supporting Verizon's public policy goals.

  • Coordinating outreach with trade associations, third-party stakeholders and community leaders to advance Verizon’s priority issues.

  • Testifying before state regulatory commissions and managing subject matter experts, as needed.

  • Collecting, analyzing and preparing data request responses and other information relevant to state regulatory matters.

  • Monitoring state and federal regulatory developments to identify and influence public policy issues affecting the business.

  • Ensuring the company’s compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.


What we’re looking for…

You’ll need to have:

  • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and / or military experience, or specialized training. 

  • Experience in California or other state or federal regulatory and government affairs.

  • Knowledge of public policy issues in the communications, cable, or utilities industries, e.g., pricing/economic regulation, competition policy, service quality, network reliability. 

  • Travel required on as needed basis.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Public Affairs, Political Science or related field.

  • Self-starter and evidence of intellectual curiosity.

  • Knowledge of Verizon operations and business functions or extensive positioning already established in territory.

  • Experience working at the California Public Utilities Commission or other state or federal regulatory agency.

  • Strong advocacy, negotiation and communications skills, both verbal and written.

  • Proven ability to navigate complex problems, build consensus, and collaborate on mutually beneficial solutions.

  • Strong planning and organizational skills.

  • Unwavering commitment to ethics and legal compliance.

    Where you’ll be working
    In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.

    If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. work location, the compensation range for this position is between $111,000.00 and $234,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
