We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Purification Scientist who will work in a highly collaborative environment providing purification support to a multi-modality Discovery Chemistry portfolio in the High Throughput Purification group. The candidate will demonstrate scientific excellence, analytical chemistry knowledge, and the ability to use state-of-the-art preparative instruments for high-quality and high-efficiency purifications. Additionally, the individual should be proficient in data analysis using instrument software and automation technology to streamline synthesis-to-assay workflows.
Responsibilities are as follows:
- Use a wide range of established techniques, HPLC, SFC and Mass Spectrometry to support Discovery Chemistry portfolio.
- Setup, implement and maintain of lab-deployed analytical and preparative instrument, specifically, Waters or Agilent mass-directed preparative system.
- Develop novel purification capabilities and implement automation and data integration to optimize end-to-end purification workflow
- Interact closely with chemists and other purification groups across our Research and Development Division to share best practices and develop new capabilities.
- Collaborate with IT professionals to integrate instrumentation with LIMS system
- Program, integrate, and troubleshoot liquid handling, UPLC, LC/MS equipment from vendors including Waters, Agilent, Tecan.
- Knowledge of informatics such as Spotfire, VB, Pipeline pilot, and basic windows programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences or equivalent and 5 years of technical expertise in purification science, knowledge of analytical chemistry, strong organizational and communication skills, an ability to adapt to a fast-paced team environment, and experience with state-of-the-art purification technologies and automation systems.
- OR - Master’s degree and 3 years of experience
Required Experience:
- Demonstrate working knowledge of analytical chemistry and ability to use a wide range of state-of-art preparative instrument to deliver the high quality, high efficiency purifications.
- Proficient in data analysis using instrument software, such as Masslynx, ChemStation, or Virscidian, and able to use automation technology to streamline the end-to-end synthesis to assay workflow.
- Ability to think strategically, highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Apply scientific knowledge to assist with scientific decision-making and application of appropriate technologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team
- Strong instrument troubleshooting and routing maintenance abilities.
- Must be able to prioritize resources to deliver required level of output for highest priority projects.
- Self-starter with ability to work independently and multi-tasking.
Preferred:
- Experience working in pharmaceutical or biotech company.
- Experience working in a synthetic and/or analytical chemistry laboratory.
- Experience with Waters or Agilent analytical and preparative instrument, liquid handling systems – (HighResBio, Beckman,Tecan).
- Proficient in data analysis using Masslynx, ChemStation, Virscidian, and other data analysis software
- Experience with implementing and integrating large scale and small-scale automation with LIMS, eg. Empower, GBG, Cellario, Momentum.
- SQL/Oracle programming
- Microsoft programming languages (VB, C++, python, or equivalent)

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Expected US salary range:
$111,400.00 - $175,300.00
