About this role

Team Overview:

The Global Client Business Tech Pod (GCB Tech Pod) aims to create and implement data analytics and automation solutions that improve operational efficiency & Risk Management and drive commercial success. In collaboration with the Global Client Platform, the goal is to embrace automation and data analytics to augment sales and client platforms and processes. The team uses its coding skills and business knowledge in collaboration with colleagues to reduce manual work, streamline processes, mitigate risks, and improve the client experience. The team also supports commercial and strategy teams by providing solutions that make insights accessible, enable effective data-driven decisions, and support the sales process.

Although the team codes, develops models, and creates tools, it is not a traditional Aladdin Engineering team. The team is not just a servicing back-end team, but a coding-driven business team that delivers value at a fast pace. The team's Artificial Intelligence (AI) workstream and solutions have recently gained global attention and will continue to propose down-to-earth AI solutions that bring real value to the firm. The GCB Tech Pod consists of individuals who have exceptional programming skills and are very driven to deliver value to the organization.

The team will primarily work with client teams across the globe and will also collaborate with Engineering and similar-function colleagues. The team belongs to Global Client Business (GCB), one of the critical functions at BlackRock. The GCB consists of regional teams across North America, EMEA, APAC, & Latin America and global teams covering insurers, sovereign wealth funds, and consultants.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Build scalable data pipelines by writing Python or VBA code to extract, clean, and load complex data into databases that can manage large amounts of data.

  • Ensure resilience and stability through quality code reviews, unit, regression and user acceptance testing, dev ops and level two production support.

  • Create, run, support, and modify various automated workflows that help GCB partners.

  • Craft SQL queries to effectively analyze and manage data in servers.

  • Document automations thoroughly and use distributed version control system (Azure DevOps) to ensure business continuity.

  • Develop and maintain Tableau or Power BI dashboards that are informative, clear, and attractive.

  • Provide innovative solutions and tools for complex problems that can be used by non-technical users.

  • Use various AI techniques such as Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and LLMs (Large Language Models) to improve processes.

  • Develop and fine-tune predictive, classification, and regression models with applications that enhance operational processes.

  • Create an ensemble of AI services (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, OpenAI) that quickly solves a need of problem.

  • Optimize LLM (Large Language Models) prompts and context to improve quality of responses.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the GCB Tech Pod team's processes and methods.

  • Collaborate, assist and respect others, and keep improving our skills.

  • Stay current with the latest trends and best practices in Artificial Intelligence, data analytics and automation.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.

  • Experience in writing Python code for over 2 years, using object-oriented programming, and working with document-handling libraries & NLP/ML/AI libraries.

  • Experience in developing relational databases for over 2 years and knowledge of No-SQL databases, as well as ability to automate data processing.

  • Relevant experience in natural language processing and data science skills are desirable.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Experience with GIT or Azure DevOps.

  • Skills in creating and applying AI/ML models for processes optimization.

  • Creative and resourceful problem-solving skills, with the ability to generate innovative solutions.

  • Ability to use and fine-tune open source LLM and experience with prompt engineering.

  • Organized and meticulous, with the ability to handle multiple tasks at once.

  • Excellent communication skills and able to convey information clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Self-driven, proactive, and committed to achieving objectives.
