About this role

Faire is seeking a seasoned professional to join its tax team responsible for supporting the development, growth, and expansion of Faire product offerings and new initiatives globally. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting the launch of new products and initiatives in a fast-paced environment in relevant industries This resource will work closely with members of the tax team, accounting and other Finance functions, as well as a variety of cross-functional business teams. The individual must be a self-starter and a fast learner eager to take full ownership of their areas of responsibility. The candidate will be expected to anticipate and surface issues, solve problems in consultation with internal stakeholders and external specialists and advisors, recommend solutions and support go-to-market, and exercise good business judgment while performing these functions. The candidate is expected to have a strong business acumen coupled with a broad tax technical and industry background and strong communication skills to effectively facilitate information flow between Product and Project business teams, Engineering, and the broad Finance organizations. Effective time management and prioritization skills in managing multiple projects are essential to the success of this role 

What you’ll do 

  • Work closely with members of the tax team, accounting, and other Finance functions, as well as a variety of cross-functional business teams 
  • Build and strengthen working relationships and scale with the growth of business teams to ensure integration with various business functions, bring tax awareness, and champion tax requirements
  • You will work closely with platform and product engineering teams to provide tax due diligence in supporting the end-to-end full life cycle of product deployment, including but not limited to design, review, testing, launch, tax functionality, reporting, and compliance 
  • Work with finance and accounting teams to implement and improve end-to-end tax process and procedures to mitigate risks 
  • Provide day-to-day operational guidance and timely address to cross-functional finance and business teams’ inquiries 
  • Work with internal policy team and external advisors supporting indirect tax policy initiatives
  • Assist with various projects related to domestic and international informational reporting and withholding regimes. 
  • Assist with indirect tax (sales tax, GST, VAT) compliance filings, including working with external service providers to prepare the returns. 
  • Support on indirect tax audits globally and work on other tax projects as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law, Accounting, Tax, or a related field 
  • 5+ years of experience in tax related field or industry 
  • Experience communicating and presenting tax matters to all levels of business organizations 
  • Experience working with and in a cross-functional team 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to adjust communication style based on the audience (customers, product teams, advisors, etc.). The successful candidate will be required to translate tax laws into tax requirements that product, engineering, and design teams will need to incorporate into products. 
  • The candidate is expected to have a strong business acumen coupled with a broad tax technical and industry background and strong communication skills to effectively facilitate information flow between Product and Project business teams, Engineering, and the broad Finance organizations 
  • Proficient computer skills and aptitude to learn new software. A working knowledge of SQL and its use in specific tools (Snowflake, Mode) would be a nice to have.

Salary range:

San Francisco: the pay range for this role is $151,000 - 207,500 per year. 

This role will also be eligible for equity and benefits. Actual base pay will be determined based on permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, market demands, and primary work location. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

 

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule - Faire employees will be expected to go into the office 2 days per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, effective the week of January 13, 2025. Additionally, in-office roles will have the flexibility to work remotely up to 4 weeks per year.
