Job Responsibilities

• Collaborating with product managers, designers, and other engineers to develop new features and enhance existing applications.
• Designing and implementing frontend and backend components using JavaScript (Node.js) and Python.
• Developing RESTful APIs and integrating with third-party services as needed.
• Writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and coding standards.
• Implementing automated tests and ensuring high code quality through code reviews and continuous integration.
• Optimizing application performance and scalability to handle growing user demands.
• Diving into using and building Large Language Models (LLMs) to enhance productivity.
• Debugging production issues using the latest tooling.
• Helping set the direction of the small but growing engineering team.
• A passion for delivering a world-class customer service experience to both internal and external customers.
• Intellectual curiosity and a desire to innovate processes/procedures rather than being satisfied with the status quo.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in full stack development.
• Proficiency in Python and JavaScript (Node.js).
• Strong ability to facilitate and gather business requirements and develop scalable engineering solutions.
• Proven ability to design data models based on business domain use cases.
• Experience writing code with a focus on maintainability and testability.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, AWS Code Pipelines, Jenkins, or similar.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously according to organizational objectives/goals and execute to deadlines.

Nice to Have:

• Prior startup experience.
• Experience solving challenges related to the insurance industry/domain.
• Familiarity with web technologies and frameworks (JS/TS, HTML, CSS/SCSS, Angular, React, Bootstrap, Node.js).
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
