Summary of Position
Fraym is seeking a mid-to-senior level Data Scientist to help our team grow a portfolio of analytical product offerings and improve predictive algorithms in a small data context. Your contributions will support decisions made in emerging markets across international development and intelligence sectors. Your work will be split between rapidly executing mid-size projects (75%) and technical mentorship (25%) responsibilities.

We are seeking candidates with a strong data science background and experience working in highly collaborative small teams developing machine learning modeling and/or analytic solutions. Preference will be given to applicants with experience with geospatial and/or survey data.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Developing workflows and identifying new applications of methodologies for company-initiated use-cases leveraging multiple data sources, as well as generalizing methodologies developed in-house
  • Contributing to the development of product offerings and capabilities such as machine learning applications, data subscription packages, and inventive data visualizations
  • Coordinating with our product, account, and project teams to execute data science ideas and workflows for existing and potential clients
  • Serving as technical lead for a small, talented team of data scientists who are responsible for creating and deploying new and improved methods.
  • Collaborating with data science team leadership to determine, drive, and pivot the data science team within the context of our organizational mission

You will have the following qualifications and skills:
  • Master’s Degree or PhD in a related field
  • At least 5 years of working in a data science context, including technical mentorship in a data science, or adjacent, industry
  • Essential skills:
    • Working in the nitty gritty of Machine Learning modeling, including applying suitable best practice techniques for model testing, tuning, accuracy, and validity
    • Communicating methodology to non-technical audiences
    • Python (geopandas, sklearn, numpy, etc.) and/or R (raster, tidyverse, caret, etc.)
    • Cloud computing environment (AWS)
    • Git, version control
  • Nice to have:
    • Experience with GIS/geostatistics and/or complex survey design
    • Knowledgeable in OOP with strong software development experience
    • Knowledge management experience
    • Formal training or experience in project management best practices (such as Agile)
    • Experience working with or in intelligence sector

Working at Fraym:
  • Salary Range (US Based: 119,000 - 145,000 USD + additional annual bonus); actual salary is commensurate with experience, and fit.
