ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Capital Markets Co-op will play a vital role in supporting HPN's capital raising initiatives, working directly with the Executive Vice President of Capital Markets and Vice President of Capital Solutions. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience in impact investing, affordable housing finance, and social enterprise development.
The Spring Co-Op Program will run from January 6, 2025 to June 27, 2025.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the Capital Markets team in developing a pipeline of potential investors to support a variety of capital solutions initiatives.
- Scan investors environment and research new investor relationships, including impact investors, institutional investors, banks, corporations, and foundations.
- Assist in maintaining and updating the investor pipeline tracking system using Salesforce.
Support the Capital Markets team around capital raise campaigns for HPN’s CDFI loan fund, capital for green investment (EPA Green House Gas Reduction Fund and private sector capital), and capital for homeownership-focused and place-based initiatives.
- Help prepare investor presentations, pitch decks, and other marketing materials.
- Support the due diligence process by gathering and organizing required documentation.
- Help coordinate and prepare materials for investor meetings and follow-up communications.
- Support the documentation and tracking of capital raise activities and outcomes.
Assist in the development and launch of new capital vehicles that support the creation and preservation of affordable housing, including:
- Supporting research on fund structures and market comparables.
- Project manage to timelines outlined in HPN’s operational plan.
- Helping create financial models for new investment vehicles.
- Helping prepare memos for internal and external stakeholder approval/buy-in.
- Assisting with documentation for fund formation and regulatory compliance.
- Supporting the development of fund marketing materials and investor presentations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong interest in impact finance and affordable housing.
- Strong academic performance in business, finance, economics, or related fields.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
OTHER
- This is a temporary, full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week.
- HPN is a remote-first company. “Remote-first” is an organizational strategy that makes working remotely the primary option for most staff. All new staff will be required to be in the Boston area multiple days during weeks designated as All-Staff weeks. There may be additional times when teams are required to travel by their leader, based on scheduled events, team meetings and business needs.
