Overview: xScion is seeking a qualified Software Engineer to join our team.
Location: Remote (United States)
As a Software Engineer, You Will:
- Application Development & Support: Provide development services and technical support for application software, designing and implementing program logic for new applications, and enhancing or troubleshooting existing applications to ensure optimal performance.
- Secure Software Design: Develop secure applications of moderate complexity, working independently with minimal guidance. Maintain accountability for individual work and oversee contributions from junior team members.
- Lifecycle Management: Conduct requirement analysis, coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and maintenance of software applications.
- Best Practices & Problem Solving: Leverage best practices to enhance products or services, addressing complex problems with innovative solutions and using both internal and external knowledge to improve outcomes.
- Collaboration & Mentorship: Act as a key resource for less experienced colleagues, providing guidance and support. May lead small projects, ensuring manageable risks and resource allocation.
- User Requirement Analysis: Interpret user requirements, identify additional information needs, and assess the implications of current design for future requirements to recommend coding solutions.
- Solution Evaluation: Assist in the design and assessment of options to determine optimal solutions, with a comprehensive understanding of logical and physical data structures.
- Code Quality & Refactoring: Continuously improve the codebase by refactoring and enhancing it, evaluating tools for continuous integration, testing, automation, and deployment.
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Design, implement, and evaluate complex test scenarios, identify weaknesses, and improve testing through refactoring. Apply testing strategies to code written against third-party software for robustness.
- Documentation & Knowledge Management: Document new systems and updates to existing ones, maintaining all documentation and contributing to the team knowledge repository.
- Project Planning & Estimation: Assist in project planning by identifying tasks required for deliverables and providing solid estimates to improve project plans. Contribute lessons learned for application in future projects.
- Standards & Best Practices: Apply, adapt, and review standards and best practices, providing feedback to improve quality across projects and teams.
- Cross-Functional Impact: Influence customer, operational, and project activities within own team and related teams, working within established guidelines and policies.
- Communication & Consensus Building: Explain complex or sensitive information clearly, fostering consensus among stakeholders.
To Be Successful, You Need:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Technical Expertise: 6+ years of experience in Software Engineering. Advanced skills in Java, Angular, AWS technology stack, and other applicable front-end and back-end programming technologies and frameworks.
- Disciplinary Expertise: Possess strong conceptual and practical expertise in core disciplines, along with a basic understanding of related areas.
- Industry Insight: Knowledgeable about best practices in the field, including market competition and differentiation.
- Object-Oriented Design & Development: Deep understanding of Object-Oriented principles, design patterns, and best practices.
- Test-Driven Development & CI/CD: Proficient in test-driven development and experienced with continuous integration and deployment workflows.
- Database & Content Management: Skilled in database design, queries, and development, as well as content management systems.
- Permanent Residency is required for this position.
