Job description

Policy Systems pod within the technology organization manages all the IT projects associated with underwriting, policy, and product platforms. The Divisional information officer (DIO) is responsible for leading the information technology planning, implementation, and maintenance of the policy systems pod systems focusing on run and grow initiatives. This leader will oversee a team of IT professionals who manage the development, integration, security, and performance of the policy. The DIO reports to the Chief Applications Officer (CAO) and collaborates with other IT and business leaders to align business objectives and priorities with the IT vision.

As part of this role, you impact this organization by:

Managing the run and grow initiatives of the underwriting and policy platforms.

  • Develop and execute the IT roadmap for the policy systems pod, ensuring alignment with the business functional goals and corporate IT strategy.
  • Manage the IT budget, resources, and projects for the policy systems pod (focusing on run and grow initiatives), ensuring timely delivery, quality, and compliance of the IT solutions and services.
  • Ensure security, reliability, availability, and scalability of the policy systems, implementing best practices and standards for IT governance, risk management, and quality assurance.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance and impact of the policy systems, identifying and resolving issues, escalating issues as appropriate and make sure that goals are met, providing regular reports and feedback to the CAO and other senior management.

Working with key internal stakeholders and partners.

  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including business users, vendors, partners, and regulators.
  • Work with the Chief Applications Officer and other IT leaders to ensure standard processes, templates are leveraged within the policy pod and can be audited.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends and developments in the insurance industry and the IT field and leverage emerging technologies and innovations to enhance the policy systems and the business value.

This career is for you if you have:

  • At least 10 years of progressive IT experience, with at least 5 years in a senior IT leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in policy systems, insurance business processes, and regulatory requirements. Have 5+ years working with COTS policy administration and underwriting systems (preferably OneShield)
  • Excel at leading, guiding, and coaching teams and has effective communication skills.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex IT projects and teams in the insurance industry.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences at all levels.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and deliver results.
  • Highly motivated, adaptable, and customer-oriented leader, with a passion for innovation and excellence.

The base salary for this role can range from $150K - $200K, based on a full-time work schedule. An individual’s ultimate compensation will vary depending on job-related skills and experience, geographic location, alignment with market data, and equity among other team members with comparable experience.
