Job description

The expected salary range for this position is $139,250.00 - $174,050.00. Employees in specific high cost of labor locations in the United States (such as San Francisco, CA and Seattle, WA) may qualify for a geographic differential. This senior manager leads the agile team to advance strategy, maturity, and adoption of Agile/SAFe within the ministry, ensuring that the culture and practice is evolving, and that the model efficiently translates effort into value delivery. Through coaching, development, education, and influence this person will seek continual improvement and efficiency through the use of these Agile principles including technical approaches such as CI/CD, test-driven development, and behavior-driven development. The primary purpose of this position is to provide full management through subordinate managers and/or senior professional staff. This responsibility includes hiring, discipline, and termination, as well as, coaching, performance management, assigning, checking, and approving work to satisfy broad objectives and department strategies. The incumbent will ensure completion of department responsibilities, calling on available resources to achieve department objectives, working within approved budget.

What will you do?

  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.

  • Acts as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commits to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abides by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Reports any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately supports responses to incidents if they occur.

  • Provides leadership and development to direct reports.  Works with staff to foster an environment of professional growth, in alignment with compassion’s strategies and objectives.  Consult with peer management and senior leaders to successfully align departmental resources and priorities across Compassion.

  • Contributes to or prepares and administers the annual budget and departmental expenses, ensuring accountability for on-time completion of deliverables based on department objectives, SLAs, and other Compassion standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory and board policies.

  • Selects, manages and develops assigned staff, establishing goals and objectives, coaching and managing performance, including discipline, motivation, and annual reviews; supports continuous learning and development that enhances individual performance and organizational capability.

  • Proactively provides guidance and leadership toward maturity (plan), measurement toward that goal, and improvement of the model/efficiency.

  • Coach, develop, and maintain cadre of SAFE/Agile experts who reinforce and accelerate adoption, use, and leverage of core SAFe/Agile concepts in the practice.

  • Accountable for the alignment and maintenance, through subordinate professionals, of effective methods to align with ministry portfolio work and define the methods whereby work flows into and through IT.

  • Creates transparency by communicating proactively, assertively, and openly with involved parties. Fosters communities of practice, and drives methods & tools to radiate information.

  • Furthers Agile culture adoption by ensuring the maintenance of required artifacts and rituals. Coaches teams on effective use/leverage of rituals to ensure the appropriate amount of “overhead” is present.

  • Designs, develops, communicates, and continually improves meaningful metrics at both the program and team level that demonstrate increased value delivery and practice maturity.
