The Senior Actuarial Analyst is responsible for providing analytical support and analysis to the actuarial and underwriting departments of the company, as needed. The position will serve as a data expert to support reporting, actuarial, and underwriting initiatives.

 

 

Job Summary Details

  • Independently conduct data analysis for health insurance actuarial purposes.
  • Conduct complex data analysis and develop sophisticated health insurance actuarial models.
  • Prepare documentation and reports for more complex health insurance actuarial analyses.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on health insurance projects.
  • Review and analyze claim experience to determine potential risks and trends.
  • Help build underwriting models and use these models to calculate appropriate premiums for new and existing groups.
  • Build and maintain reporting for executives and other departments.
  • Perform ad-hoc reports to support analysis of utilization, provider contracting rates, group experience, and trends.
  • Present data and findings to non-technical audiences.
  • May mentor and provide guidance to more junior Analysts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • 4 Year / Bachelors Degree-in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics or equivalent field of study.
  • Achieved actuarial credentials preferred (ASA or equivalent).
  • 6 years progressive actuarial experience, including experience in healthcare or dental insurance.

 

Specific Skills/Knowledge

  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills
  • Strong proficiency in actuarial modeling software specific to health insurance.
  • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Prior Underwriting or Actuarial experience in dental and/or healthcare is required.
  • Ability to work on multiple, concurrent tasks.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Access and Excel.
    • Please be prepared to complete online skills assessments as part of the application process.
  • Ability to develop models in Excel preferred
  • Experience with SQL preferred

Compensation

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary for this position is $129,099 - $167,829, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. If you are hired at Liberty, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any, final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth.
