We are looking for a labor relations business partner, sr. who will be part of a dedicated cross functional team to provide labor relations support to partners and our leaders throughout retail, manufacturing, and distribution. The function will support local leaders with resources to help lead through union activity with dignity and respect for our partners, while partnering with local leaders and support teams to focus on proactively uplifting the partner experience across North America through activating the most important strategic partner & store initiatives, leveraging analytics & data to generate insights, and acting as an advocate for all partners.

As a labor relations business partner sr., you will …

  • Participates in and is responsible for collective bargaining, grievance processes, contract administration, and labor and management relationships in their assigned markets.
  • Inspires partners to emotionally connect to and embody our Mission & Values, and ensures inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility are integrated into practices at all levels.
  • Investigate and resolve grievances and workplace concerns including best practices as they relate to reducing bias during the investigation process.
  • Serves as a balanced advocate for all partners, while role modeling personal growth through self-awareness and reflection.
  • Demonstrates a growth mindset and acts as a catalyst for change – sees opportunities and drives improvements.

We’d Love To Hear From People With

  • Understanding of labor and human resources related laws and regulations including but not limited to the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), Title VII, ADA, ADAAA, ADEA, FMLA & state/local laws and ordinances
  • 3-7 years of experience in Labor Relations, Human Resources, and/or Employee Relations
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively building collaborative and trusting partnerships with union counterparts
  • Experience integrating labor relations practices into business operations in a way that supports and enhances overall business operations
  • Has a sound understanding of employee relations practices
  • Ability to articulate perspective and influence via effective verbal and written communication skills to peers and leaders
  • Solid technical business writing skills
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills
  • Experience in solving
  • Facilitate training courses and lead meetings
  • Proficient in technology and use of case management systems. For example: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and project management systems

This role can be based in any of the following states:

  • If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
