Job Title: Claims Examiner

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Claims Examiner to investigate and confirm the facts of loss for basic automobile accidents. The successful candidate will apply analytical thinking to determine coverage, liability, and damages, and will adjust and negotiate claims within their limit of authority.

Responsibilities

  • Handle investigations regarding most aspects of auto claims, including coverage, liability, and damages, with limited discretion.
  • Apply a basic understanding of insurance policies written by the company, the industry, and organizational relationships within the company and department.
  • Determine subrogation or fraud potential and decide on appropriate handling.
  • Identify customer needs and work to meet those needs using appropriate customer service skills.
  • Recognize and identify body parts of a vehicle and understand other potential property damage.
  • For claims involving injuries, learn how to review, evaluate, and negotiate basic injury claims.

Essential Skills

  • 2-5 years of experience in claims and insurance.
  • Experience with assessing auto damage.
  • Worked on intercompany arbitration.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Customer service orientation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Time management skills from a global case management and pending perspective.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills; ability to detect differences and recognize issues from multiple sources.
  • Proficiency in Word and Outlook.
  • Having a license is strongly preferred but not required.
