The Intellectual Property Department from Air Liquide Group is seeking a Patent Attorney to create a satellite Intellectual Property Department in Poland. The position is based in Krakow and a close interaction with the Intellectual Property team in Paris and Frankfurt is envisioned. The candidate(s) are, ideally, qualified as European Patent Attorney or are in the process of qualifying.
The new incumbent will work in total autonomy but in close collaboration with the IP team.
The new incumbent will work in total autonomy but in close collaboration with the remainder of the IP team. The position is based in Krakow with the possibility of remote working three days per week after a transition period. Traveling to Frankfurt, Germany and Paris, France may be required.


 

You will be in charge of managing part of the patent portfolio from the Group and implementing the associated IP strategy. Your daily tasks will be varied and will include notably:

  • Collection of the inventions from the researchers from the various Research and Development centers;

  • Patentability studies (prior art search and analysis);

  • Patent preparation and prosecution;

  • Patent opposition (EPO) or invalidation actions, if needed, with the support of outside counsels; 

  • Freedom to Operate (FTO), patent validity and patent enforcement analysis; 

  • Patent watch and patent analysis from concurrents.

The successful candidate is likely to fulfill the following criteria:

  • Engineering diploma, PhD or equivalent;

  • Strong technical background with majors in Physics, Physics and Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and/or Mechanical Engineering; 

  • Studied Patent or IP Law;

  • Be fully qualified as European Patent Attorney or part qualified;

  • Being versed to opposition in front of the EPO and oral proceedings in front of the OD or ED of the EPO;

  • Being trained in a law firm or in-house ;

  • Polish and English speakers are required, in addition German speaker will be a great advantage; 

  • Work in team and collaborate, but is as well fully autonomous;

  • Possess soft skills and the ability to communicate efficiently.
