As a key and high-profile member of RGA’s Americas leadership team, the Vice President, Head of Pension Risk Transfer, Americas Financial Solutions leads RGA’s U.S. Pension Risk Transfer (“PRT”) business and is responsible for both the execution and financial performance of transactions that are often highly complex and material for RGA’s overall business. Leads, coordinates, and manages RGA’s external relationships with PRT market stakeholders, including insurance carriers, pension consultants, pension plans, fiduciaries, and asset managers – in other words, will be the “face” of RGA’s PRT expertise. Manages the PRT business development team responsible for the sourcing and execution of new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads, coordinates, and manages the development and profitable growth of RGA’s U.S. PRT business, including the setting of market strategy, the origination of new business opportunities, and P&L responsibility for the business line.
  • Builds and deepens RGA’s critical relationships in the U.S. PRT space, including senior management of insurance carriers, pension plan advisors, intermediaries, fiduciaries, and other key stakeholders.
  • Creates brand awareness of RGA’s expertise in the PRT market through presentations at industry events, hosting industry seminars for clients, publishing industry articles, developing marketing materials, etc.
  • Leads and grows the PRT business development team.
  • Leads the origination, triaging, and execution of PRT transactions that are often highly complex and/or material for the RGA enterprise.
  • Partners with Pricing, Administration, Marketing and Transaction Services, etc. to cement and maintain RGA’s position as a leading PRT insurer.
  • Understands market trends in core and potential markets to assist senior management in understanding risks and opportunities.

Requisites

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Actuarial Science, Administration, Marketing or related degree or equivalent related work experience
  • 15+ years of life/annuity/pension insurance/reinsurance experience
  • 5+ years experience in the in the U.S. (or other developed) Pension Risk Transfer market
  • FSA or ASA accreditation would be ideal
  • Master’s Degree, (MBA or other) is a desired asset

Skills & Abilities

  • Advanced understanding of pension liabilities and associated risk transfer markets and solutions
  • Ability to design and structure risk transfer solutions that meet RGA’s risk/return requirements as well as client needs
  • Broad and deep network of key relationships in the U.S. PRT industry
  • Highly advanced people management skills, demonstrating an ability to lead, mentor and develop associates
  • Highly advanced persuasion skills when working with internal and external partners to resolve issues/problems
  • Highly advanced ability to investigate, analyze and solve complex problems/issues
  • Exceptional skills in managing multiple projects and/or sub-teams simultaneously, including the ability to delegate key areas of responsibility
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received by all associates and management at all levels and by external contacts
  • Exceptional ability to make timely and effective decisions and produce results through strategic planning and the implementation and evaluation of programs and policies
  • Exceptional leadership skills, demonstrating collaboration, creative thinking, maintaining focus, and persistence, even under adversity, while maintaining the confidence of management and associates
  • Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate time-sensitive transactions
  • Ability and willingness to travel for about 20% of time for both internal and external business purposes
  • Demonstrated business leadership experience at a U.S. PRT market participant (e.g. insurer, reinsurer, advisor, etc.) is a highly desired asset
  • 5+ years of people management experience is ideally preferred

Compensation Range

$204,410.00 - $304,695.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
