The organization has worked with over 450,000 participants and their families, helping to sustainably lift over two million people out of extreme poverty in India, Africa, and the Americas. Our mission is to partner with women in extreme poverty to build economic opportunity and drive inclusion. Trickle Up works through partner organizations, to build paths to savings, food security, and agency, resulting in sustainable poverty reduction at scale.

Position Overview

The Associate Director for the Graduation Approach is a newly created remote position focused on supporting our graduation and economic inclusion initiatives. This role reports to the VP of Programs and involves developing, standardizing, and delivering training on the graduation approach and economic inclusion for both internal and external stakeholders. 

The Associate Director will collaborate with field-based program teams to effectively address contextual implementation challenges and seize opportunities. Additionally, this position will closely work with the business development team to write, review, and vet proposals. In coordination with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) team, the Associate Director will ensure we are utilizing and learning from the data and evidence generated through project implementation.

Principal Functions
Program Design
  • Oversee the design of projects and programs focused on graduation and economic inclusion.
  • Effectively integrate gender equity and climate-adaptive strategies into programs.
  • Enhance the digital strategy and tool development for TU’s graduation and economic inclusion programs to improve their efficiency and effectiveness.
Training & Capacity Building
  • Standardize and roll out a basic graduation approach training for all TU staff.
  • Provide in-country and remote technical expertise to field-based program teams.
  • Review and update/modify (as necessary) existing graduation approach tools for TU.
Business Development
  • Collaborate with HQ, business development, and field teams to develop proposals and concept notes.
  • Assist in designing programs by taking part in design missions and carrying out fieldwork.
M&E Management
  • In collaboration with the M&E director, assist in creating learning agendas for each project.
  • Strengthen the community of practice among agencies and institutions using the Graduation Approach in humanitarian contexts; effectively share good practices and lessons learned related to the graduation approach.
Representation
  • Act as a representative for Trickle Up at national and international forums when it is relevant and appropriate.
  • Liaise with in-country donors.
Qualifications
Education
  • MA in a relevant field (i.e., international development, humanitarian management, international affairs) with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience.
Experience
  • Must have experience implementing the graduation approach and/or economic inclusion programming.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in international development, economic and/or livelihood development.
  • At least seven years of work experience with international NGOs.
  • At least five years of experience living and working in a developing country on relevant issues (i.e., livelihoods, poverty alleviation).
  • At least seven years of experience with program management including contract management, budgetary management, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated networking and strong relations in the humanitarian field with a focus on refugee and/or displaced peoples preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Demonstrated experience developing training tools, methodologies, and techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience presenting and training to multi-cultural audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience in project design, including using results frameworks, log frames, theories of change, etc.
  • Experience with designing and delivering programming for refugees and other people affected by displacement.
  • Strong experience with livelihoods approaches for people living in extreme poverty, with the Graduation Approach program design.
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills in English, and preferably Spanish or French.
  • Exceptional ability in written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Highly organized and analytical thinker.
  • Proactive, creative problem-solver; and
  • Flexible and productive under pressure.

Salary and Benefits

We offer a salary ranging from $75,000 to $95,000, commensurate with experience, along with benefits for this full-time position.
