Job description

This is a remote field position with flexibility on your location in the Northeast Region.

As Sales Director on our Ahold Delhaize team with direct responsibility for Hannaford, Stop & Shop, The Giant Company and Giant Food, you will achieve optimum sales results by managing customer accounts and leading a sales team. Develop and implement annual sales plans, direct sales forecasting activities, set performance goals and measure results accordingly. Review customer and market analyses to determine needs. Responsible for staffing, development, and performance management of a sales team. You will report to a Vice President of Sales.

Your Impact:

  • Lead our Customer Business Planning model to include 12-18 month business planning cycles and tactical management of merchandising and pricing.
  • Review and assess shipment/IRI report performance, understand monthly/weekly data and trends, and guide action when needed.
  • Evaluate customer and market trends and strategies to ensure overall business and brands stay on track to deliver the annual plan.
  • Take an active role with cross functional partners to develop customer selling presentations and content, along with active participation in making presentations and coaching team members.
  • Regular customer visits to coach, train and provide feedback to account managers and internal partners, and to develop higher level customer contacts.
  • Regular market visits to review store conditions, monitor competition, evaluate MAPS and communicate findings internally.
  • Performance management for your direct team to include setting goals, providing ongoing candid feedback and setting end of year ratings.
  • Administrative and financial management to include travel and expense, trade accrual, compensation, deductions, and staffing.
  • Travel for customer meetings as needed.

Your Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 7+ years of CPG industry experience including team management experience.
  • Sales management experience, managing multiple product categories and customers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sales, trade, category management and marketing concepts and methods, and the ability to apply them in planning and execution.
  • Demonstrated experience using multiple information sources to develop sales strategies and tactics.
  • Demonstrated experience managing promotional activity and trade spending.
  • Matrix management experience leading in a team environment.
  • Experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, drawing valid conclusions and developing action plans/recommendations to guide correction/improvement.
