Certified Special Education Teacher - AZACS Online
Although this is a remote position, candidates must reside in Arizona and be able to come onsite to our Phoenix Online School Office two times per month for meetings and professional development.
Under the supervision and direction of the Campus Director, the Classroom Teacher, Certified Special Education will effectively manage a caseload of students while preparing lesson plans, instructing students, evaluating and monitoring students’ performance and advancing student achievement in the classroom environment. The Classroom Teacher, Certified Special Education should have experience differentiating instruction for a variety of learners and will work collaboratively with a team to plan and support instruction in accordance with students’ IEP goals. Teachers in this role should demonstrate a commitment to professional development through didactic workshops and classroom coaching.
Candidates with teaching certification and experience are preferred with a willingness to be trained and coached in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies. The Classroom Teacher, Certified Special Education will support a caseload of students and work on a team to implement a best-practice educational model to achieve optimal results for students on the autism spectrum and students with other related disorders in the online learning environment.
Duties:
- Engagement and oversight of staff and student caseload in the AZACS online classroom learning environment
- Provide instructional support for students in the classroom
- Weekly lesson planning using curriculum resources for students in the AZACS Academic Program
- Analyze curriculum data bi-weekly to make instructional decisions
- Ongoing Student and Parent communication
- Modification of materials for classrooms as needed
- Structured teaching planning, organizing, and implementing
- Staff communication/feedback
- Maintain substitute plans in case of absence
- Participate in all duties and responsibilities as appropriate for an AZACS faculty member
- Maintains knowledge of special education teaching methods, research, and best practices through professional development and study
- Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for caseload and attend all required student meetings
- Collect, analyze, and report data in a meaningful manner
- Celebrates the achievements and successes of students.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience managing and teaching a caseload of students with disabilities in a classroom learning environment
- At least 3 years of experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities
- Experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis(ABA) preferred
Required:
- Must be Arizona Resident
- Arizona IVP Fingerprint clearance card
- Valid Special Education Teaching Certification
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher

Positions in this class require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions:
Work is routinely performed in an indoor classroom environment.
