Summary of Job Duties:
The Research Assistant I will work closely with graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and the Principal Investigator (PI) in a dynamic laboratory environment. The primary responsibility of the candidate will be to support the efficient functioning of the lab, including but not limited to the production of recombinant proteins, supply/inventory/maintenance, and other essential tasks. More specifically, the candidate will assist the PI with the management of the overall organization of the laboratory.

Responsibilities:
Assist in management of the overall organization of the laboratory.
Maintain active knowledge of and assist with ordering, storage and organization of laboratory reagents, supplies and equipment.
Prepare and maintain reagents and media for experiments by lab members.
Manage and maintain glassware and autoclave.
Recommend acquisitions of laboratory equipment, supplies, reagents.
Analyze and make recommendations to the PI in facilitating cost-savings and operational efficiencies in the laboratory work.
Provide budgetary recommendations on laboratory expenditures in coordination with the PI and the Administrative Assistant.
Coordinate the agenda, write the minutes and action items for the meetings of the PI with all members of the research group (general lab meeting) and with subgroups of researchers for specific projects.
Ensure effective coordination of day-to-day operations and monitor the progress and performance of all experiments.
Continuously perform expression and/or purification of heterologous proteins and other experiments as needed.
Provide training to new technical personal, fellows and students in protocols and procedures involving protein expression, purification and characterization in the lab.
Provide oversight of all experimentation in terms of equipment.
Perform and/or provide training for all protocols in the laboratory.
Assist the PI with laboratory compliance and inspections.
Maintain inventory.
Maintain records of experiments.
May perform other duties as assigned.
