We’re Looking For A: Regulatory Specialist is to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations for Pet Food/Supplement products. They will evaluate, audit and approve contract manufacturers as needed, review all product labeling, maintain registration of products and ensure product quality and claims meet all applicable regulations. They may also support regulatory compliance with international markets and retailer requirements.

Location: Remote, Office in Woodland Hills CA

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Reviews product ingredients/formulas, claims, labels to ensure compliance with AAFCO, state, NASC and all applicable regulations as required
  • Maintains accurate and current product registrations with all applicable state regulating bodies
  • Reviews website copy and other marketing materials for claim substantiation and compliance
  • Creates and maintains product specifications
  • Creates PIFs (Product Information Files)
  • Develops SOPs as needed related to regulatory compliance
  • Maintains supplier approval program for contract manufacturers as needed
  • Conducts and reports results of onsite audits of contract manufacturers as needed
  • Provides support for product complaint investigations and supplier compliance analysis
  • Provides counsel to the business on regulatory requirements
  • Monitors regulatory environment for changes to regulations
  • Provides support for international markets as needed
  • Employee must be willing to travel as needed

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry or related field     
  • Knowledge of HACCP, Food Safety, AAFCO, Food manufacturing regulations (USDA, FDA), GMP (required)
  • 2-5+ years of Regulatory experience in the pet food space.
  • Expert knowledge of international markets is preferred.
  • Excellent intra/inter-department communication skills
  • Attention to detail and high organizational/prioritization prowess
  • Highly knowledgeable of regulatory environment
  • Ability to adapt and to cope with long term changes at workplace 
  • Ability  to adjust to immediate situations, accommodate others and business needs

The base salary range is $64,500-$86,000, plus annual & monthly KPI bonus potential.

The posted salary range in this job posting reflects data based on California's cost of labor analysis. This salary range is subject to change per state; please click here to find the pay differential in your state of residence if the role is remote. 


Salary is based on a wide range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geographical location.
