Overview:
BerryDunn is seeking a Governmental Accounting/Auditing Consultant to join our Not-For-Profit Practice Group. You will join a core team tasked with driving our pursuit of new governmental accounting/auditing consulting projects and supporting our current projects. This position is planned to be based in our Manchester, NH, Waltham, MA, Portland, ME or Bangor, ME locations or remotely.
You Will:
- Participate in client engagements from start to finish
- Assist in providing consulting services to clients under the supervision of managers, senior managers, and principals
- Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, and lead change efforts effectively
- Consult, work with, and service client base to make recommendations on business improvement, process improvement, and internal controls and serve as a business advisor to client
- Collaborate with team members to plan, develop, and implement project activities to achieve project and client goals
- Follow appropriate data collection, fact-finding, and data analysis practices
- Participate in consulting engagements of all sizes, including performing tasks such as conducting research, assisting with detailed and technical aspects of the engagement, documenting the engagement, and assisting with engagement reporting
- Assist with project management tasks, such as tracking and reporting project progress, maintaining project document repositories, and reviewing deliverables for quality assurance
- Participate in business development and client service opportunities for the governmental accounting group
- Perform planning, testing and documentation in accordance with Generally Accepted Auditing Standards and Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards
- Conduct audits in accordance with established audit program guidelines such as Generally Accepted Auditing Standards and Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards
- Conduct research of laws, guidelines and other reference materials as needed
- Stay up to date with governmental accounting and auditing standards
- Understand and manage firm risk on audits and proposals
You Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- At least 3 years of experience working in public accounting, preferred working with local governments
- At least 3 years of experience in federal grant or uniform guidance accounting/auditing
- Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently, balancing multiple assignments and achieving quality results in a timely manner
- Ability to create and sustain positive working relationships with staff and diverse constituencies and work independently as well as collaboratively as required
- Knowledgeable in quality assurance/control procedures and demonstrated proactive problem management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Compensation Details:
The base salary range targeted for this role is $75,000/yr - $100,000/yr. This salary range represents BerryDunn’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications in excess of the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply and a final salary range may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, amount of travel, and other relevant business considerations.
