Zayo is seeking a Damage Prevention Manager who will be responsible for the performance of their team and for the goals of their assigned territory.
*This is a hybrid role working remotely, in the field, and in office in the Atlanta, GA area.
Responsibilities:
Communicating with clients, engineers and management to resolve and prevent outages.
Developing and managing relationships with construction contractors known to be working on projects in each market, raising their awareness of the location of our cable plant, and making certain they are using best practices to avoid strike damages. This includes private company projects as well as civil infrastructure projects such as road widening, water, sewer, gas, tree trimming, etc.
Managing locating to ensure all locates are accurate, completely located, and performed on time according to state laws.
Conducting daily reviews of the Damage Prevention Technician hand-off report to ensure that dispatches, tasks, and maintenance projects are consistently completed on time.
Working closely with Zayo market OSP personnel to understand the status of inflight relocations they are working on and other activities that could represent risk to the cable plant as well as strike damage documentation.
Working closely with damage strike cost recovery personnel OSP and Finance to ensure maximum recovery from 3rd party construction parties and locating vendor.
Working closely with tools development personnel and other State Damage Prevention.
Documenting interactions, site information and utilities in organizational software.
Identifying, developing, and driving improvements to processes and procedures utilizing root cause analysis.
Recommending feature enhancements and developing preventive/predictive best practices.
Hiring, developing, and retaining a high performing team of Damage Prevention Technicians. Interviewing and identifying candidates for the Damage Prevention team.
Providing training and development of Damage Prevention Technicians to maximize their effectiveness in use of tools, OSP inspection skills, strike damage documentation and other required duties.
Assigning and balancing workload across team.
Identifying and fostering the growth of talent on the team.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must live within 60 minutes of the Atlanta, GA area.
3+ years of experience in people management & leading teams required.
5+ years of experience in telecom field construction tasks required.
Previous experience in site development, underground installations, utility locating, fiber optic cable builds.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction, telecom, or similar field, or equivalent work experience.
Telecom and/or industry safety training.
OSHA or other Safety Certifications.
Must own a cell phone and be able to use for work purposes.
Ability to be on call and/or work various shifts (such as weekends and/or evenings.)
Ability to travel, as needed.
Base Salary Range: $81,200 - $101,200 USD/annually, commensurate with experience.
