The National Safety Council is America’s leading nonprofit safety advocate.  We focus on eliminating the leading causes of preventable injuries and deaths.  Through leadership, research, education, and advocacy, NSC focuses on areas where most unintentional injuries and deaths occur. 

We are currently looking for a Senior Program Manager - Work to Zero to join us in our mission to save lives and prevent injuries.

Position Highlights:
The Senior Program Manager - Work to Zero develops and executes programs within the Work to Zero initiative; includes defining program requirements, managing project execution, reporting on deliverables, and working to maximize the impact and engagement opportunities with each project aimed at eliminating fatalities in the workplace through the adoption of safety technology. 

What You’ll Do:

Project Management  

  • In partnership with the team, plan and execute the Work to Zero strategy specifically around educational and business development projects.  

  • Develop education and business development-related proposals (define the main objectives of the projects, their purpose, and the scope) for new initiatives, activities, and projects.  

  • Integrate smaller projects, initiatives, and ongoing project plans into a cohesive strategic plan to include key deliverables and milestones and the tasks required to complete each.  

  • Execute the work or assign work as part of the plan. Manage the budgets and colleagues to complete all activities on time-related to the project.  

  • Regularly monitor the key performance indicators and control the processes/tasks associated with the project. Report to stakeholders on project progress. Elevate issues while providing strategies for ensuring program success. 

Outreach  

  • Provide knowledge through the development of key messages and educational content to reach the target population with the partnership of internal Marketing & Communication teams.  

  • Write articles, blogs, or white papers and present them on webinars and at conferences - or similar outreach documents for print or online publications.  

  • Managed the annual Work to Zero Summit in collaboration with the internal Conventions team. Responsible for the overall concept, agenda, educational content, and speaker management of the event.  

  • Participate in trade shows or other similar events.  

  • Serve as a representative and speaker for Work to Zero at internal and external events.
     

Relationship Management  

  • Engage in regular communication with, and build relationships in all directions (e.g., peers, supervisors, funders, stakeholders) to advance the strategy/program. Primary internal stakeholders include Development, Marketing & Communications, IT, Campbell Institute, and Executive teams.  

  • Effectively communicate with external stakeholders to build relationships in support of Work to Zero.  

  • Manage the Work to Zero Advisory Council, including developing and executing strategy, relationship management, and meeting logistics.  

  • Support and encourage an environment that appreciates the diversity of employees’ and stakeholders’ styles, opinions, and perspectives.  

  • Relay information, build consensus, fact-find, and maintain transparency and open exchange while keeping partners up to date and notified of program status and impact.  

  • Communicate with other NSC initiatives, campaigns, and departments to identify potential dissemination and cross-collaboration opportunities. 

Other  

  • Maintains current knowledge of EHS/technology best practices by interfacing with EHS professionals, subject matter experts, and thought leaders.  

  • Other duties as assigned. 

We’re Looking for Someone with: 
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of relevant experience in project management with increasing responsibilities spanning multiple simultaneous projects. 
  • Master’s degree preferred.  
  • A degree in EHS or public health is preferred.
  • Experience in marketing and communication strategy development preferred.
  • Experience in event management preferred.
  • Experience working with executive-level EHS professionals preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Internet computer skills.

  • Salary is $73,000
