POSITION SUMMARY
The Tax Analyst role is a part of the Tax Team and is responsible for supporting the team in creating accurate and timely tax requirements for the organization. The ideal candidate will be reporting to the Tax Director, the Tax Analyst will assist in supporting the tax team delivering internally to all the business units and externally for compliance, customer requirements and government implications. The tax professional will learn, assist and contribute to the business requirements related to local and international activities. The Tax analyst will actively participate in understanding the evolution of the company's business model, its underlying legal structure, the company's Canadian and American taxation components, and other tax-related subjects.
While knowledge in these areas is not a requirement, the incumbent will have the chance to learn and be exposed to these tax aspects in collaboration with the Tax Director and Tax Advisor..
More precisely, this role will include:
- Assisting with daily business tax requirements.
- Assisting Canadian/American tax compliance work.
- Assisting in preparing federal and state/provincial tax information gathering and forms.
- Supporting tax compliance in a transborder context.
- Learning and assisting regarding Canadian and US indirect tax issues.
- Helping in monitoring international legislative changes in taxation.
- Participating in other tax-related projects under the direction of more experienced colleagues.
- Supporting the tax process implementation.
- Sales tax and Indirect tax process
Qualifications:
- Graduate with an accounting degree or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in a tax-related role. An Accountant doing indirect taxes and tax related tasks in the position of Internships or cooperative education experiences are considered pertinent experience.
- More experienced individuals invited to apply role can be adjusted for experienced individuals.
- Professional credentials in process or completed CPA, CMA is a plus
· Intention to grow in with Tax and to do « In-Depth Tax Courses » / ICCA or a Masters in Tax.
- Foundational understanding or interest in Canadian and/or U.S. taxation, indirect taxes, or international tax compliance is useful.
