The individual life insurance underwriter has the privilege of working with various distribution channels, including national accounts, general agents, and advisors.
Position Responsibilities:
Conduct risk assessment and classification in accordance with Manulife's philosophy and standards.
Communicate and collaborate with sales colleagues and head office to provide the highest quality and competitive decisions to our clients.
Maintain positive and effective relationships with internal and external partners.
Consistently deliver the best customer experience by making every interaction meaningful
Comply with consumer laws and regulations regarding risk classification, confidentiality, and disclosure.
Identify and propose solutions to problems and procedures related to the underwriter's work.
Promote an atmosphere of trust with all clients to facilitate the acceptance of decisions.
Required Qualifications:
You are continuously learning – currently enrolled or very interested in insurance-related courses such as LOMA and/or ALU courses.
Demonstrated professional experience as underwriter, at least 5 years of experience.
Approval limit of at least $5,000,000 in life insurance and $250,000 in critical illness insurance
Be on the lookout for trends and changes in medicine, knowledge of human anatomy, medical terminology, diseases, tests, and modes of treatment.
General awareness of current events, industry issues and trends
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to define, research and solve problems.

Exemplary customer service skills and excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingualism (English and French) is a strong asset. If the successful candidate is in Québec, proficiency in both languages will be required to support clients from various provinces outside of Quebec.
A university or college degree in a related discipline is considered an asset.
