Job description

At the GSK Global Supply Chain (GSC) Ware site we have a heritage in making innovative medicines for diseases like asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), HIV and cancer.  An exciting place to work, Ware is the New Product Introduction site (NPI) for respiratory and oral solid dose (OSD) medicines and has supported the launch of over 15 new innovative medicines since 2017.

We are co-located with our R&D colleagues and recently opened a new, state-of-the-art oral solid dose facility at Ware.  At this location our scientists, technicians and engineers (from R&D and Global Supply Chain – GSC)  work collaboratively together (using the latest technologies) to rapidly knowledge transfer and deliver GSK’s most innovative, medicines faster and more efficiently.

On site we produce over 60 million respiratory inhalers each year with growing demand in future years. The site also processes Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) for use both on site and other manufacturing sites in our network.

Job-profile:

We are seeking a highly motivated New Product Introduction (NPI) Manager to join our team at the Ware site (in the MSAT - Manufacturing Science and Technology – function.

This role will shape the future of the business through effective programme management of all site aspects of new product introductions, product line extensions and in-licensed products.  You will be delivering the commercialisation of new products (from R&D), and subsequent transfers to other sites.  Your key areas of focus will be project and risk management, technical due-diligence and embedding quality and capability to ensure robust, cost-effective manufacturing processes are developed and implemented.

The NPI manager is a key leadership role on-site and you will play a key part in GSK’s commitment to unite science, technology and talent to get ahead of disease together.

Key Responsibilities (include..,)

  • Provision of leadership to establish essential partnerships across all areas of the business, including Operations, Technical, Quality, Logistics, Finance and Engineering (as well as R&D teams and third-party businesses).

  • Overall responsibility for site project and programme delivery for asset(s) from first time to site through to successful technical transfer, to launch of product.

  • Accountability for identifying, evaluating, communicating and managing priorities, strategic and operational risks, dependencies and opportunities across the Programme(s), whilst demonstrating a continuous improvement approach.

  • Ensuring that activities are delivered within the defined policies and procedures, and complies with safety and quality legislation, as well as compliance standards.

  • Your role will be varied and you will work across a range of business activities, portfolios and teams according to the needs of business. The role will be interesting and varied providing opportunity for development and growth.

 
About you:

You will be solution oriented, with a proven ability to resolve issues and work independently whilst also being a high performing member of a team.  Good working knowledge and understanding of the complexities and importance of supply chain and production within a highly-regulated manufacturing environment (to ensure safety, quality and supply are the focus) are key to the role.  You will also bring strong communication skills and an ability to build effective working relationships across all departments and levels of seniority.  You will be resilient and calm with a high level of accountability to drive successful outcomes.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Relevant experience from a highly regulated environment, ideally obtained in more than one relevant business areas (i.e. Manufacturing science and technology, commercial, regulatory, quality or operations).

  • Experience of Matrix Management and proven successful application of Programme and/or Project management methodologies.

  • Degree (or strong equivalent experience) in a relevant science, technical or engineering discipline.
