Orbital Engineering, Inc. is currently seeking a GIS Analyst I to work remotely and be available for occasional travel as needed. This GIS Analyst I role will directly report to a GIS Project Manager within the Technology and Innovation Department (TIN Group). We are focused on candidates who have GIS experience in energy and utilities. This position will be fully remote and will include up to 25% travel within the United States.

Responsibilities Include:
- Aggregates, organizes, and analyzes data from disparate sources of various file types to include .DWG files, excel spreadsheets, KMZ files, shapefiles, FGDB’s, DEM’s and LAS files.
- Ensure GIS project tracking metrics are being reported through Microsoft Power BI and / or Esri ArcGIS Dashboards.
- Creates and implements automation tools using FME and Python to increase efficiency and accuracy of data deliverables.
- Configure forms and geofencing in ArcGIS Field Maps for data field collection and work with internal and external stakeholders on training others to use Field Maps.
- Create web applications and Experience Builder to create maps using AGOL and ArcGIS Enterprise for Orbital Engineering projects.
- Create one-to-many relationship classes between feature data sets and relationship tables to associate documentation and photos to features.
- Use ArcGIS Pro to perform spatial analysis using geoprocessing tools to create new data sets and normalize existing data for internal and external client deliverables.
- Create and set up exhibit templates in ArcPro and utilize Map Series to automate map package production per client specifications.
- Edit and create data schemas to include mandatory domains and implement attribute rules within ArcGIS Enterprise environment.
- Research and leverage free 3rd party data sets including parcel data, DEM’s, API rest services to support preliminary due diligence efforts and implement cartographic best practices with the visualization of the data for internal and external deliverables.
- Create PDF photo reports and map exhibits in ArcPro.
- Assist with the training of new team members, in particular GIS Technicians.
- Write process documentation on new workflows.
- Work will be primarily remote but may require you to travel to regional offices or on project sites up to 25% of the time.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University in math, engineering, geography, computer science or related field.
- 2-4 years GIS working experience.
- 2+ years GIS experience in utilities, energy, oil & gas, chemical or heavy manufacturing.
- Minimum of 2-year experience using FME, Python, Power Apps.
- Basic understanding of VB Script and Macro scripts in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software applications.
- Entry level knowledge on SQL, JavaScript and other software development coding languages.
- Ability to work from home and maintain traditional office work hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Microsoft Power BI experience.
- Microsoft Project experience.
- Previous experience training others.
- Esri Field Maps experience.
- Knowledge of MAOP/Integrity related data sets and workflows.
- Utility Network experience.
