The Group Insurance Underwriting Department supports the needs of small to mid-size companies nationwide and offers these businesses a superior customer experience on a broad base of group insurance solutions. In addition to dominating the small end of the employer market, Guardian is focused on growing and enhancing our competitiveness for New Business and Renewal Underwriting employer groups ranging from 25 to 99 lives.
You Will
Assess information available and make effective risk decisions in accordance with established company guidelines and procedures, eventually leading to new business sales and continuance of existing business.
Act as a consultant to internal partners and customers, providing benefit recommendations to potentially improve program financial performance and the customer’s retention and satisfaction results.
Effectively negotiate risk appropriate pricing and plan designs with distribution team.
Develop and position recommendations to drive favorable results.
Be responsible for relationship management and a positive customer experience.
Effectively work as part of a regional Underwriting Team. Proactively supporting sales by effectively managing cases, identifying trends and opportunities.
Perform financial analysis to determine risk classification according to company guidelines.
Communicate with the salesforce, brokers, and internal partners to acquire necessary information, solve problems, and convey decisions.
You Have
Group Insurance Rating/Underwriting Experience or Undergraduate degree in Risk Management, Economics, Finance, Business or Mathematics is preferred with a minimum GPA of a 3.0 on a 4.0 grade scale.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate large quantities of data, ask probing questions and derive conclusions coupled with the ability to make accurate decisions in a limited timeframe.
Strong math skills to analyze financial data.
Demonstrated ability to solve problems creatively.
Exceptional interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication skills.
Proven organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
Demonstrated leadership skills work or college experience.
Experience in using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications.
Prior knowledge of Group Insurance products/processes is a plus.
Location
Hybrid: 3 days in office, 2 days WFH in either the Bethlehem, PA or Boston, MA office.
Salary Range
$47,230.00 - $70,840.00
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
