JOB SUMMARY:

The Director, Channel Logistics will be responsible for developing and managing the operational infrastructure to support Patient Services and Market Access at BioCryst.  This individual will have a strong understanding of the product access and support needs of patients and healthcare providers in rare disease and/or specialty product markets, as well as payor/reimbursement dynamics. This individual will be responsible for leading the distribution channel, developing patient and provider services, and overseeing operational execution for specialty products in the United States.    This role will interact closely with marketing, market access, supply chain, and customer-facing sales functions.  As such, this individual must have a keen understanding of each function and a strong collaborative orientation. #LI-REMOTE

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with Managed Markets and Patient Support leadership on defining objectives for key initiatives and driving solutions to key challenges and opportunities related to payor reimbursement, market access, and patient services.
  • Partner with Market Access and Patient Services to understand key market dynamics with regards to the insurance approval process, payers, and reimbursement.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Patient Support Service SOPs, Contracts, and Operations.
  • Develop and execute patient support service strategies and tactics.
  • Lead the onboarding and management of BioCryst’s specialty pharmacy and customer hub partners.
  • Direct onboarding and training activities for new staff members regarding promotional products and key disease areas.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs to ensure all channel partners meet or exceed performance expectations.
  • Lead the integration and maintenance of support resources for Patient Services and Market Access teams (software solutions, insights reports, communication tools, etc.).
  • Work with legal and compliance to ensure adherence to all BioCryst pharmacy-related SOPs.
  • Work with legal and compliance regarding review of changes or exceptions to support service programs and oversee changes to distribution related SOPs.
  • Ensure all appropriate documentation is maintained with regards to pharmacy related SOPs.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional colleagues to develop and execute comprehensive product access and customer support plans.
  • Facilitate internal training on reporting tools and Patient Support Service operations for new hires in Field Sales and Market Access.
  • Oversee daily monitoring of patient status changes within BioCryst Central and follow-up with internal stakeholders and the specialty pharmacy.
  • Ensure compliance with regards to the use of PHI obtained by the pharmacy via the BioCryst consent from patients.
  • Design optimal data acquisition and analytics strategy in partnership with various stakeholders to ensure appropriate metrics for monitoring business performance.
  • Act as SME with regards to the pull-through of pharmacy data to field sales.
  • Provide operational insight to various internal stakeholders with regards to specialty pharmacy data.
  •  Maintain a high degree of customer focus.
  •  Demonstrate the highest degree of compliance and integrity.
  •  30% travel required.

 

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  •  10 years of commercial experience in biotech/pharmaceutical industry with at least 5+ years of experience in Specialty Pharmacy direct oversight.
  •  Relevant experience in rare disease categories required.
  •  Relevant experience with new product launches strongly preferred.
  •  Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  •  Creative thinker; self-directed; able to develop a plan, gain alignment, and execute.
  •  Highly collaborative; flexible and can work easily across functions; comfortable leaning into all aspects of a commercial business and making recommendations to optimize company or team approach.
  •  Can build and maintain strong customer and partner relationships.
  •  Analytical skills: must have demonstrated ability to use data to drive strategic decision-making.
  •  Strong ability to drive execution through an organization.
