What You Will Do:
- Implement scalable, highly available database solutions utilizing AWS native services (RDS, DynamoDB, Aurora and Redshift)
- Utilize AWS tools and other 3rd party services to optimize cloud database infrastructure.
- Collaborate with developers and business personnel to select optimal database technologies based on application requirements.
- Define and enforce database standards, best practices, and security protocols.
- Perform regular database administration tasks, including backups, restores, patching, and upgrades.
- Proactively monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies for best performance.
- Diagnose and resolve complex database issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for troubleshooting and knowledge transfer.
- Automate routine database management tasks utilizing scripting and AWS tools.
- Work closely with development teams, systems engineers, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and optimize database usage.
What You Will Need:
- Bachelor’s Degree, plus 4 years of experience OR (8 years of experience can be substitute for degree)
- Strong AWS DBA expertise in relational (RDS, Aurora) and/or NoSQL (DynamoDB) database technologies. 4-6 yrs AWS DBA experience required.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience as an Azure Database Administrator, with demonstrated expertise in SQL Server (IaaS & PaaS), MongoDB and PostgreSQL.
- In-depth understanding of cloud database design principles and best practices within AWS.
- Solid understand of database querying, performance tuning, replication, and sharding concepts.
- Proficiency in SQL and at least one scripting language (PowerShell, Python, etc.).
- Experience with Database software installation, upgrades, management, troubleshooting, design, support (including backups and recovery), data migration techniques, and Database security.
- Extensive experience dealing with Sensitive Data abiding by Industry Standards and regulations.
- Experience with technical requirements for data classification and implementing data protection technologies.
- Candidates must be willing to work an EST time zone schedule.
What Would Be Nice To Have:
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- AWS certifications (AWS Certified Database - Specialty, AWS Certified Solutions Architect)
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform).
- Understanding of DevOps principles and methodologies.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI
- ITIL 4 Foundation Certified
The annual salary range for this position is $75,300.00-$112,900.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
