Summary & Scope of Position:
Field based position with the primary focus to prospect and close supply agreements for INTERCEPT Blood Systems with key blood centers and self collecting hospital customers accounts in the North American transfusion medicine market. Manage opportunities by coordinating and leading field activities, gathering and communicating market data, profiling key accounts, establishing the value proposition and utilizing internal resources to do the necessary analysis to build a strong business case and drive revenue generation for Cerus.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Identify, qualify and close INTERCEPT Blood Systems contracts.
- Work in conjunction with the Sr. Director, Sales to establish a strategic plan identifying and prioritizing opportunities to close contracts with identified large scale purchasing groups/alliances.
- Work in conjunction with VP, Commercial Operations and Sr. Director, Sales, Marketing, Finance and Legal to establish pricing and contract strategies. Responsible for tracking and managing contract compliance.
- Responsible for developing and communicating Cerus responses to Request for Proposals (RFPs) from assigned blood centers and self-collecting hospital customers.
- Work in conjunction with the Deployment department to qualify opportunities, establish implementation plans and optimize customer satisfaction to maintain business.
- Work in conjunction with the Market Development Team to facilitate awareness and education post-licensure.
- Accountable for establishing and updating product forecasting for INTERCEPT Blood Systems (platelets, plasma, IFC) and illuminators. The forecast will focus on immediate sales opportunities tied to established product claims as well as future sales projection tied to product extensions.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining critical account information in the company CRM system.
- Responsible for gathering and communicating market and product application opportunities. Assess and communicate customer feedback and/or requirements, as well as recommend product and service solutions to help drive adoption.
- Responsible for identifying and communicating requirements for success to marketing and executive management team.
Qualifications/Requirements/Skills:
- Bachelors degree with a minimum 5 years medical sales experience.
- Strong preference for experience / knowledge of blood banking industry.
- 3+ years experience working with National Accounts or equivalent.
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal and listening).
- Strong technical and selling skills to interact consultatively with customers, physicians, healthcare executives and corporate partners.
- Well organized, detail oriented with a strong sense of urgency. Must be a team player, who is comfortable working in a multi-national system.
- Flexible; ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to 50% overnight travel required.

Compensation: The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $130,000 annually (plus incentive pay). Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on various factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the total package to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
