Purpose of the Role

As a part of our growth strategy, we have an opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer, to join our Melbourne based business. This role reports to the JP8190 Systems Engineering Manager.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, hard-working, experienced Systems Engineer who has engineering experience across a range of sectors and is seeking their next challenge to develop their career in a renowned worldwide business. The Systems Engineer is responsible for delivering all engineering activities within the engineering lifecycle in line with the program schedule. This is done through collaborating with all the engineering teams to ensure the design is matured as planned.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply sound Systems Engineering principles across the full SE lifecycle
  • Identify, develop, and manage requirements for systems, sub-systems and product components.
  • Provide technical support to the JP8190 SEM and Technical Director
  • Prepare briefing material to support system reviews (SDR, PDR, DDR, TRR etc.)
  • Ensure design documents and artefacts generated are in accordance with appropriate standard procedures and work instructions including compliance with the required product change management and quality control processes.
  • Identification, development and management of Interface Design Descriptions for both internal and external system interfaces
  • Assure the integration and validation of system designs with physical and functional properties.
  • Review OEM documentation and subcontracts including associated OQE to ensure that the program’s contracted V&V requirements are adequately addressed.
  • Development and review of Acceptance Test Procedures and Reports
  • Conduct impact analysis / change management resulting from the V&V program
  • Prepare and/or review customer contract deliverables
  • Develop strong and collaborative relationships with customer, supplier and subcontractor stakeholders to ensure effectiveness of communications and resolution of issues
  • Comply with workplace legislation and Company policies, processes and instructions including those relating to non-discrimination, safety, duty-of-care, and the application of the quality management system
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Key Requirements:

  • ≥ 4 years Engineering experience in Systems Engineering or Requirements Management
  • Experience with interpreting complex technical requirements and deriving concise, unambiguous and verifiable requirements
  • Understanding of the Systems Engineering Lifecycle and its implementation
  • Demonstrated experience managing requirements, RTM, VCRM in DOORS NG
  • Demonstrated experience of engineering in a Defence Regulatory or equivalent environment (e.g. LMSM, aerospace, transport, infrastructure).
  • Experience in the design and delivery of V&V programs with a focus on the incorporation of commercial and military standards, OQE and testing for COTS products to meet the military environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated experience of working collaboratively and influencing across multiple stakeholder groups
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with limited supervision, is proactive, bold and willing to have a go  
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with uncertainty and adapt to changing priorities
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to develop innovative solutions
