Job description

  • Position Overview**

The Head of Venture will manage an existing portfolio of nine companies, with six additional projects under LOI awaiting deployment. The portfolio boasts strong performance indicators, including a triple-digit IRR of 330% and a TVPI exceeding 13.8 (up more than 1380%). This role includes leading a multinational team, with operations across the GCC and SEA regions, and driving further expansion. In early 2023, our client launched a $30M early-stage, equity-focused fund, registered in the United Arab Emirates under ADGM (Abu Dhabi Global Market).

  • Requirements**
  • Must-Have:**
  • 5+ years of experience in venture capital;
  • Fluency in English (both written and verbal);
  • Strong analytical skills, with a background in traditional finance (e.g., hedge funds, investment banking, private equity, or venture capital);
  • Significant experience in capital raising;
  • Proven ability to manage a team or operational experience;
  • A robust network that supports deal flow and strategic opportunities, with demonstrated investment selection expertise;
  • Experience with protocols (e.g., business development, engineering, ecosystem understanding);
  • Sales acumen with the ability to close deals and a strong affinity for networking;
  • Knowledge of portfolio management practices;
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to meet deadlines;
  • Proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets, and Mac operating systems.
  • Nice-to-Have:**
  • M&A or trading experience (advantageous but not essential);
  • A financial designation or license would be beneficial but is not mandatory.
  • Role & Responsibilities:**
  • Lead a multinational team of venture associates, implementing the fund manager's directives while adhering to the investment thesis and participating in the investment committee;
  • Support capital deployment, including deal sourcing, due diligence, and executing high-quality transactions;
  • Manage deal flow, tracking investment exposure, liquid/illiquid assets, and key performance indicators (KPIs), while continuously rebalancing the portfolio;
  • Take a central role in DeFi and liquidity operations, working closely with the quantitative trading team;
  • Conduct market research, trend analysis, financial modeling, valuation, due diligence, and offer project support within the portfolio;
  • Prepare regular reports and briefs (e.g., investment notes, quarterly reports, monthly digests);
  • Collaborate with the fund manager to promote team cohesion, ensure capital efficiency, and support the firm’s growth;
  • Represent the fund by building relationships with other funds, conducting interviews, attending and speaking at conferences, and engaging in public-facing activities;
  • Present the fund to potential LPs and assist in closing deals;
  • Work with the finance team to ensure compliance and follow internal procedures;
  • Use company systems to securely manage and maintain records.
